A couple articles that I think people might be interested in reading about the Russo-Georgian war.
These are from exiledonline.com , which is the successor newspaper to exile.ru which was shut down by the Russian government earlier this summer. This is the paper where Matt Taibbi got his start. The first article is by Mark Ames http://exiledonline.com/georgia-gets-its-war-onmccain-gets-his-brain-plaque/
The second article is of questionable taste. It's by Gary Brecher, the War Nerd. Although it is distasteful to see war reviewed like a movie (ie. for its entertainment value), Brecher does have a tendency to know what he's talking about and has frequently made the correct call on how things would play out.

1. Hmm.
Well, I did read them, and thank you for the links . . . but:

The first is simply a screed about McCain and a largely irrelevant "what if" - why worry about "what if McCain is President" now? What is happening is happening now . . . and I guess my tolerance for the "OMG - what IF" Chicken Little stuff is wearing a bit thin.

The second is rather distasteful in it's style, but also slightly more interesting although I don't agree that this is only about South Ossetia. Russia is making moves that go beyond protection of that area - whether that is right, wrong, or who cares is a matter of where you stand, I suppose.
