Pressure builds on Boehner to apologize for his violent remarks about Pelosi.»

Last week, House Minority Leader John Boehner (R-OH) lashed out at Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) for her refusal to call Congress back into session and succumb to the GOP’s political stunts on oil drilling. “The American people are gonna hang her,” Boehner told reporters. Rep. George Miller (D-CA) quickly called his comments “offensive, inappropriate and deliberately misleading,” Rep. Ed Markey (D-MA) said they were “unfortunate,” and Rep. James Clyburn (D-SC) called on Boehner to apologize. Today, House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (D-MD) joined in:

I was disappointed to hear of Minority Leader Boehner’s inappropriate comments regarding Speaker Pelosi. Republicans are clearly frustrated that the American public is not buying their Johnny-one-note energy policies of the past, but such comments are harmful to a useful debate over our nation’s future. I hope the Minority Leader will apologize for his remarks, and work with Democrats in a bipartisan, constructive manner to increase our domestic oil supply, invest in renewable energy and end our dependence on foreign oil.

Boehner is refusing to back down from his violent rhetoric though, today posting a blog post titled, “Marie Antoinette, the Book Tour.”

make him take back those words and appologize on the record. You know he'd do that in a heartbeat if the shoe were on the other foot.

BTW, he didn't go there to be a congressman, he went there to be a bawl-baby. Rhandi said she thought he had had a couple of martinis for lunch, and I think that just may be the case. Man, could I have some fun with that &@##!$.

10. Republican attitude toward apology is
"Apologies are for wimps and Democrats. No apology, Never!"
They are always demanding an apology for something or other from our side and take an apology as a sign of weakness.

12. Precisely correct...
...and that is why the "abused wife syndrome" is so apt when describing the Democrats in Congress and their actions over the past several years. Namely, when the abuser demands an apology they apologize in the hope that it will make the abuse stop, or at least appease the abuser momentarily. But what it really does is make the abuser have even less respect for them, and the dynamic causes them to ramp up the abuse even more.

Oh, and Welcome to DU!

13. It's lucrative to do what the Puppet Master Di Feinstein wants
Her to do.

Di gets a lot of money via her husband's Iraqi war contracts, and my take on it is the reason no one screams about it being a "conflict of interet" is some of that money gets spread out.

15. Boehner and the Republicans had SIX FULL YEARS....
...The Presidency and a majority in the House & the Senate.....

The Republicans had SIX FULL FUCKING YEARS to solve this problem....and instead, they made it worse.
No whining and crying now.

Based on their performance, they should be locked out of any discussion about solving this problem. They had the opportunity, and they FAILED.....miserably.

Nancy???
Phfft!
She sold us out in 2006 for a seat at the rich, white man's table, and has never looked back.

16. That man is,...just sick,...as are his comrades high on power.
They'll play any fascist trick in the book,...even when they've been exposed.

I imagine their trial at the Hague would be every bit as laughable as Hitler's men.

If anyone should be hung, it should be those advocating it,...when they are found guilty of conspiring to commit war crimes.

17. I'm I the only one...
who doesn't find it particularly outrageous? To be clear, I am an ardent advocate of exposing eliminationist rhetoric, but Boehner's remark seems more colloquial than purposeful to me.

Not to worry though - the Anthrax and wiretaps are working and I am confident the Dems, led by Obama, will cave on this issue, as they do with every issue.

28. Until every Dem learns to keep the pressure on
by raising this every time they speak on any other subject, expect no apology. Dems should have their callers on WJ and every other call in program raising this over and over.
