The constitution must die. a poem.
Edited on Mon Aug-11-08 09:15 PM by angrycarpenter
There was a man who came out of the west.
a man who loved to lie.
on a skull he swore a solemn oath,
the constitution, it must die.

His father had been the president
Big business was his game.
He longed to be the king of us
in everything but name.

He was our prez for four long years.
He fought a war most grim.
In spite of beating back Saddam
we did not vote for him.

Clinton we got instead of him
most everything was great.
The Neo-cons they then arose
and filled congress with their hate.

They tried like hell to bring him down.
impeaching him with zeal.
in the end the law prevailed
but time is like a wheel.

When two-thousand rolled around
once again we had a Bush.
Not the father but the son
you know, the one that was a lush.

He remembered how the constitution
had stopped them before and why
that's when he remembered his dastardly oath
the constitution it would die.

His brain was a very evil man,
who went by the name of Rove
Of lies and deals and dirty tricks
he had a treasure trove.

The devil himself must have been proud
of the way the vote was stole.
Instead of the great Albert Gore
we had a puke with evil as his goal.

As his second we had a man
who killed whatever told him no
when people said they hated his war
all he said was "so?"

They set to work straightaway
to kill the document most hallowed
First they fired everyone
who might say "that's not allowed".

Then they pushed the telecoms
to tap everybody's phone.
They couldn't stand the very thought
of privacy in our homes.

When the plane flew into tower one
they were already set
to use every power they had at hand
to kill our great document.

Like slaves our congress rubber stamped
everything the monsters asked.
Justice herself instead of blindfold
began to wear a mask.

From top to bottom they worked their woe
killing everything that was right
and good about our government
they turned daylight into night.

In back rooms and courtrooms across our land
they made their evil grow
whenever we asked "what is that you do"
they said "you have no right to know".

When finally we are rid of them
their legacy will be thus,
they may have taken away
the thing that protects all of us

The constitution is the thing
that made our country free.
their hatred of it is right there
for all the world to see.

When they are gone will we move
to drag them into the light?
Or will their followers continue
to deprive us of our rights?

We need to be vigilant, dear reader,
the fight has just begun.
To restore the constitution
to it's place in the sun.
