The Reason Most of the Main Stream Media will not report the story about Corporations not paying Tax
Edited on Tue Aug-12-08 07:29 AM by Stuart G
Well you may see it for a very short time.. Very short. My hunch is that most of the Main Stream Media are.."Corporations that do not pay tax" This story will not get much play..Looks bad is some Main Stream Media reports that..It didn't pay no tax...

Maybe a few announcements, then gone..just wait..By tomorrow...N
..Now there might be just one way this story could stick around..If one particular candidate for high office makes a big deal about it. Now which one do you suppose will make a big deal???

4. Listen to Conservative pundits whine about our "high corporate tax"!
that is paid by only 33.3% of corporations who actually pay any tax at all!

15. This happens in Chicago quite often and the city seldom gets the jobs
and other advantages that the companies promise. Daley bent over backwards to attract Boeing, then came "9/11" and the airline industry began to go down the tubes, with Chicago letting prime real estate go with no "quid pro quo"!

7. And You Expect The Corporate Media To Come Clean?
Yeah, right. That's cause they are elite...far from "mainstream"...a term they have astroturfed out there to fool people into thinking their spin is what the "common folk" feel or "should".

I don't know where you come up with the fact they pay no corporate taxes. Unlike other corporations that can shelter money due to their international and "offshore" subsidiaries, media corporations can't "outsource"...and to my knowledge, most do pay taxes. That said, they, just like other large corporations have dozens of tax lawyers on their staff who can and do find every loophole and means to depreciate they can.

FCC rules still state that a corporation that owns American broadcast properties has to have majority American ownership...a reason Murdoch became an American citizen to build his Faux empire. But my bets are Murdoch gets a better tax deal here than he would in his native Australia.

11. Anyone With Money Gets A Better Deal
Edited on Tue Aug-12-08 08:04 AM by KharmaTrain
Call it the "Golden Rule"...ye who has the gold, writes the rules.

While I'm far from wealthy, I have amassed deductions (as many have over the years that means my tax bite now is far less than it was in my earlier years when I rented and earned far less. When I ran my business, I had a tax consultant who was always finding ways for me to depreciate assets and maximize losses that drastically lowered what I paid. Again...the golden rule at work.

The big "dirty secret"...and not really one, is how the tax structure bites the poor...and specifically what's left of the middle class, than what it does to the rich. While they pay more in actual dollars, the amount they keep is plenty as well. Taking 15% out of 50k a year is gonna have a far deeper bite than 28% or 250k...but the rich will scream unfair since the dollar figure looks so huge.

The real giveaway for Murdoch and the corporate media is their absolute control over the public airwaves...they wrote laws that allowed them to monopolize broadcast and cable and has kept the "stick values" (property or license values) inflated to maintain their "bottom line" (stock price) and prevent anyone from competing with them.

Cheers...
