Heavy smoke was in the area as units from Santa Clara County, San Jose, Saratoga and Los Altos responded to the scene.
Hal Rooney, deputy chief for Santa Clara County Fire, said the fire may have started under an air conditioning unit on the second floor. Workers in the building first called in the fire, fearing a potential fire on the roof because of smoke in the area, Rooney said.
Some Apple employees stopped by to look at the scene and snap pictures on their I-phones.
