Would the Bush Administration stoke an international incident in order to help McCain win in Nov.?
It was reported on DU that Karl Rove had "vacationed" in the Crimea recently. How convenient.

We all know that the Bush Administration and the Republican Party are a disaster.

Is there nothing they will not do in order to retain power?

call off the election completely in order to retain power for himself.

8. I don't think any "incident" helps McCain.
America already fell for that. I actually think it hurts McCain more, especially as his campaign stutters through their "solutions" for the incident.

10. What really concerns me is the US media not informing the American people at-large of the truth.
Edited on Wed Aug-13-08 07:31 PM by Postman
This recent Georgia/Ossetia story is just the latest example.

For Christs sake, Georgia attacked first but watching CNN you'd think the Russians were the ones who started this mess..

It's really scary when the US media is openly lying to the people.

15. No doubt in my mind ....
Rove and Condi had meetings with their good buddy Saakashvili very recently, US troops and private contractors were there "training" the Georgian troops and, lo and behold, Georgia attacks Ossetia. All mere coincidences I am sure :sarcasm: just in case it is needed.

Interesting article about their good buddy from November 07:

Questions surround president of Georgia

Educated in America, fluent in four languages and in the values of free-market democracies, Mikheil Saakashvili was supposed to have been different.

When he was elected president of Georgia after a bloodless revolution in 2003, he was deemed a savior for the post-Soviet landscape, as if he had been conjured up by a committee of Washington think tanks and European human rights groups.

Yet this week, with Georgia under a state of emergency after his government quashed a large demonstration and violently shut down an opposition television station, Saakashvili seemed, even in the eyes of some steadfast supporters, to be ruling with the willfulness of the very autocrats he once so disdained.

23. LOL, I think it was more likely Putin was telling bush....
back off or else, aka "fuck off" in Russian, given bush's furious flag-slapping on his knee and the totally pissed-off look. Putin knows the "wag the dog" scenario and he isn't having any of it and made that VERY clear to bush, imo.

Of course the bastards will create international incidents. Reagan's people allegedly got the hostage release delayed...anything is possible.

22. In a perfect world
another major incident (as if 9/11 and then Iraq wasn't enough) would prove that Republicans should never be let near the WH ever again.

In a perfect world.

Why having a major international crisis should necessarily favor McCain (who as far as I know is NOT President yet) is beyond me as it actually sounds like he is making things worse by shooting his mouth off.

But maybe that's just because I'm a pointy-headed elite LIBERAL celebrity?
