Remember when Saddam complained to April Glaspie about Kuwait slantdrilling?
And she indicated that the US had "no position" about Saddam taking action in Kuwait over the oil??

Remember??

So Saddam "does something", and George the First Slam-dunks Saddam ..(in anticipation of his re-election campaign in the coming year)

If you look at the Georgia embassy page, you will se numerous visits over the months of US officials..all in connection to the "wannabee breakaway" territories.

http://georgia.usembassy.gov/latest-news/2008-press-releases.html

I think the pres was set up..duped into thinking it was ok to apply pressure to get those two places to "fall into line"..

he was given the wink & a nod approval to do what he though was necessary, with the US knowing that this time we would NOT rush to his aid, and the ensuing shitstorm would all occur at just the right time for the republican fear machine to roar back to life..

Perhaps the US miscalculated the fury of Russia, but they had to know that Russia would respond..

Georgia has a peach of a war on its hands, and was led by the nose, into it..

3. I've been quietly wondering that, too.
The role McCain has stepped into seems awfully contrived.

4. Did you hear Lieberman's speech today? Sickening.
Praising McCain for his "bold leadership" with regards to Georgia.

I smell a HUGE rat.

5. No, I've been trying to avoid it all, but that deepens my suspicions.
I was working (in a very minor way) for a former Senator back in 92, when Clinton won. Just before Bush left office, he sent troops into Somalia, supposedly for humanitarian reasons. My boss was livid, declaring that the whole thing was a trap set for Clinton in a no-win situation, and that Bush (who my boss knew and had campaigned against) knew it. He used the liberal desire for greater humanitarian aid as an excuse for his military action.

That's what Bushes do. They manipulate foreign governments and use our own military for their own political goals, regardless of cost to human life.
