6. Yes one. I didn't gain any weight with doing that

11. Getting that poison out of your system
was a huge plus.

I quit smoking, gained weight but managed to shed the extra pounds over time.

Smoking is nothing but killing yourself slowly but surely.

Congrats are in order.

4. Congratulations.
I'm going on 10 years myself, but I still chew the damn nicotine gum. Guess I had to cling to at least one vice since I gave up booze and herb at the same time.

Now that is what I would call a strong person. Congratulations on doing that.

17. almost 10 years for me
and I still have dreams where I'm in some random social situation and I light up.

I figure it's a subconscious coping mechanism - in the dream, I feel super guilty about smoking, and then I wake up and realize it was a dream, and I'm relieved.

Congrats to you!

18. I have read that every former smoker has some form of that dream
mine involves hiding cigarettes under the driver's seat of my red Corvair. Then when I am driving by myself, I reach under the seat and light one up. After I have rolled down all the windows in the middle of winter. The windows are down so there will be no evidence that I have fallen. Usually I wake up about then and feel mighty guilty. I used to have that dream once a month. Now it is about once a quarter or so. Still the same damned dream in nearly every detail.
For me I can't remember the day. I quit sometime in 1974 or 75.

19. Just had a smoking dream a few nights ago...
pretty much the same. I felt bad I was smoking, too. Woke up and was relieved.

20. Congratulations on saving your life. It enrages me there is a legal substance
that when used as intended will slowly kill you in multitudinous ways many of which are undocumented and un-talked about ways.

My family is in the throes of a second member dying because of cigarettes.

It causes tears and pain every day, and that's just to the survivors.

My quit date was cinco di Mayo 1998.

21. I quit last year, but...
there were occasions when I really enjoyed a good smoke.

So, someone said something about quitting and starting up again if he lived to 65. That's a bit young. I think I'll take it up again at 70.

(Or 65 if it looks like I won't make it to 70)

22. I hear ex-smokers have what they call "smoke" dreams,
sort of like wet dreams - but they wake up in a puddle of phlegm instead.
