6. Pat Buchanan has his lucid moments in the arena of foreign policy, not with domestic policy though.
He's an oddity in some respects.

11. And this was one such moment
The difference with Buchanan and the neocon lunatics is that he is a student of history. Now I'd like him to tell us if he supports McWar.

7. Buchanan wants a resurgent Russia because he wants the two of us to fight China
Edited on Fri Aug-15-08 01:23 PM by theboss
He thinks that white Russians and white Americans will be the key to white survival in the new world.

He thinks that we should have an alliance based on race and common-ish religion. (Though if you have ever been to a Russian Orthodox wedding, you understand the -ish there).

10. Pat Buchanan?
Jesus, will the next thing be someone quoting LePen or the BNP?

Surely, if what he says is correct, somebody else will be saying it, and it won't be necessary to quote that evil disgusting racist Hitler-defending MONSTER!

18. Agree!
A right-winger can sometimes happen to get something right; a right-wing agenda can't. And Buchanan's views need to be perceived in the context of his right-wing agenda. Or to put it more simply and crudely: he's defended LePen, so fuck him!

21. "will the next thing be someone quoting LePen or the BNP?"
Probably. It is called the "broken clock" effect. Sad thing is one can't use a broken clock to tell time, nor can one know it's projecting the correct time without using a working clock. This begs the question: why not just use a working clock instead of one known to be defective?

I bet David Duke thinks the sky is blue, but I sure as fuck wouldn't use him as a "source" to prove the sky is blue.

14. To quote Michael Douglas in The American President
"Someday, someone's gonna have to explain to me the virtue of a proportional response."

It's always seemed to me that proportional responses only serves to continue the violence.

23. American Govt.s over the past 200 years have been rife with
Hypocrisy. The Busholini Regime is Hypocrisy defined.

"How would we have reacted if Moscow had brought Western Europe into the Warsaw Pact, established bases in Mexico and Panama, put missile defense radars and rockets in Cuba, and joined with China to build pipelines to transfer Mexican and Venezuelan oil to Pacific ports for shipment to Asia? And cut us out? If there were Russian and Chinese advisers training Latin American armies, the way we are in the former Soviet republics, how would we react? Would we look with bemusement on such Russian behavior?" P. Buchanan
