Harman International to move manufacturing to Mexico
Source: WTOP-FM, 103.5 MHz, Washington DC

I can't find a link for this, but just as I was leaving the house, I thought I heard that Harman International, the manufacturers of hi-fi components sold with the brand names Harman-Kardon and JBL, would be moving all their manufacturer from the US to facilities in Mexico.

Sorry, that's all I have. Disclaimer: I have an HK Citation 12 power amplifier and a solid-state pre-amp. Note: this is NOT the tube amp Citation II.

Head honcho Sidney Harman was in the Commerce Department when Jimmy Carter was prez.

3. HK has made some of the finest stereo components of my generation
The value of the older USA made products just went up substantially.

I hope audiophiles shun HK now like rotten fish.

4. They had been manufacturing stuff overseas for years.
Their HK line of receivers and other mid-fi products have been made overseas since the 1980s. Sidney Harman must be pushing 100 by now. Isn't his daughter running the company?

Harman owns about a dozen different lines, including Mark Levinson, DBX, Crown, HK, JBL, Lexicon, AKG, Revel, and Studer.

I owned a Citation 12 Deluxe with the nicer cosmetics back in the 1970s and also had an HK 430 receiver in a second system. Great stuff for the money and if you find any of these old products in good condition, they can compete with some of the high price stuff built today. The HK 430, 630, 730, and 930 receivers were all outstanding considering their low price.
