Not much mention about huge unemployment in the largest state. There would be rioting if the rest of the states were at 7.3%.

California's unemployment rate rises to 7.3%

Nearly 15,000 jobs were lost in July because of ongoing slowdowns in construction, real estate and financial services.

SACRAMENTO -- California's unemployment rate climbed to a 12-year high last month as the state continued to bleed jobs in the real estate and construction industries.

The rate jumped to 7.3% in July from 7% in June. It was even worse in the Inland Empire, where the unemployment rate is approaching 9%, the state reported Friday.

"The depth and magnitude of the job losses are accelerating, clearly," said Esmael Adibi, director of economic research at Chapman University in Orange.

1. Not to worry. Plenty of temp angencies in Ca.

2. And Schwarzenegger is delighting in his billions, completely
oblivious to the suffering of ordinary Californians. Wonder if he is still driving his Hummer.

5. we can beat that in southern Illinois!
Unemployment is at 11 percent in deep southern Illinois, it is 9 percent in my county in southern Illinois. I have never seen it this bad. My husband has two months of unemployment left then we don't know what we are going to do. He hasn't had even a call for an interview in months. So much for that good education and the thousands spent on Master's degrees.
