Roseanne Blasts Angelina Jolie & Jon Voight Over Political Opinions

LOS ANGELES, Calif. --

Roseanne has slammed Angelina Jolie, her partner Brad Pitt, and her father, Jon Voight in a new post on her personal web site.

Calling Jolie, Voight’s “evil spawn,” and Pitt, “vacuous,” Roseanne’s attack seems to be directed at the actress and her family members over their opinions regarding presidential hopeful, Senator Barack Obama.

Roseanne’s post seems to start out as a response to an OP-ED piece Voight wrote for the Washington Times in July, against Obama.

“God forbid, we live to see Mr. Obama president, we will live through a socialist era that America has not seen before, and our country will be weakened in every way,” Voight wrote.

Indeed, while I loathe it, I'm going to get "Roseanne: The Complete 9th Season" just to keep her rich (that sitcom got completely stale by season 8, but I digress) Better her than Jolie, whose epithet of "vacuous" won't can't be contested for quite some time.

what either Jon Voight or Roseanne Barr said about anything. Star status doesn't give them any credit towards being critical thinkers. Pick a star, any star other then Bill Crosby and put a cork in their mouth. Bill, with his background in education has proven he has something of value to say.

Rosanne honored Frank Zappa during the creds on her show when Frank died in the early 90's.

She also had Ahmet Zappa in one episode in a bedroom with a few prominent Zappa posters. Think it was the glove poster from "Them or Us", which is still available from Barfko-swill, I think?

the Jolie-Pitt family. Three of their six kids are adopted. Roseanne has 5 children, one of whom she gave up for adoption.

Also, no point in lumping Angelia Jolie with her father. The two have long been estranged, so I doubt his politics influence her very much.

I think Jolie is politically naive if she thinks the repukes are anything other than war mongering corporatists who don't give a damn about anybody, but I certainly don't take her opinions into account when making my own political decisions, nor, I think, does anybody else.

You're right that lumping her in with her father was pointless... but why did Roseanne give one up? (Plus, compared to other outlets, adoption isn't such a bad service...)

that was the right choice for her at the time. In no way am I passing judgment, just pointing out that it's hypocritical to criticize people for having 6 children - implying that they are depleting natural resources - when you've had five of your own and are familiar with the adoption process by which they have helped to create their family.

Angelina and Brad have an incredible opportunity to use their celebrity and money to make a real difference in the world.

I cannot fathom how anyone that paid the slightest bit of attention to politics could even consider voting for McCain or actually believe that he knows what to do in Iraq. My impression of their intelligence has dropped dramatically. They have been busy with children but still, it is our responsibility to inform ourselves and fight for a better world for our children.

The corporate media is so focused on celebrities and bullshit, if these celebrities all spoke up together and told the truth about what is happening in this country, they could make a real difference because the media wouldn't be able to ignore it.
