DENVER – Colorado just can't seem to shake its purple streak, and it's not because of the Colorado Rockies.
There are plenty of politicians on both sides of the aisle who think there is a decent chance Colorado could be the Ohio of four years ago, or the Florida of eight years ago, when it comes to deciding the next president. If President Bush had not won those states in those elections, he would not have won the overall electoral vote.
Some states are falling off the battleground radar, but not Colorado. In the past few months, states like Florida and Missouri have started to lean toward Republican Sen. John McCain and states like Michigan and Wisconsin have started to lean more toward Democrat Sen. Barack Obama.
On Monday night, the top leaders of the Colorado Democratic Party met at the Governor's Mansion to talk about how to get the state to tilt in their favor.
