I wonder if it's Biden putting forth all the Biden rumors

to try to force Obama into a corner of some kind. Build excitement, etc. I just don't see him adding much to the ticket except maybe some toughness, admittedly, but he was a hawk on the Iraq war fairly far into the game (till the winds started blowing against it). Someone like the Virginia governor, being so unknown & unsoiled, might be the better pick...

1. Biden is a known show horse
If he was behind it he would have been on all the news channels to talk about it.

3. More likely, Obama is trying to promote Biden because he's not going to be the nominee.
By promoting Biden's name, he rewards Biden for supporting him, and links his own name to Biden's experience. Biden gets a popularity boost. And it feeds itself--because Biden is more popular for being considered a VP front-runner, Obama looks wiser for considering him.

Maybe Biden is his pick, but if not, floating the rumor helps Obama, and Obama would shut the rumor down if Biden was doing it without approval.
