Maybe its because, starting with Kennedy tonight, we're all pretty emotional .......

..... but I can't see a candidate past being a candidate future.

This is a sea change.

4. Mainly .......
..... "the Clintons"

I have to put that in quotes. Maybe people who hate them can now find some restive form of peace. They became irrelevant tonight. Bill became a historic figure. Hillary became the junior senator from New York. Kerry became the junior senator from Massachusetts. Chris Dodd and Bill Richardson. Dennis and Mike and John. Al Gore, too. All just became historical references. The subjects of "I remember when .... " musings by old farts and young.

8. They are not obsolete at all and they all still serve the people....
Edited on Mon Aug-25-08 11:08 PM by Breeze54
they all have a lot of experience and wisdom to share still today and in the years to come but the torch is rightfully being passed to a new crew. It always happens that way. Eventually, your father stops carving the turkey and the oldest child takes over that task. That is what we are witnessing.... It's OK.... We'll be Okay.

11. Not exactly
I saw 'Kennedy' and the effect of its draw - just the name Kennedy is huge. Historic figures are not exactly irrelevant. Jimmy Carter for example.

7. No .... not specifically ......
..... just all former candidates who we keep suggesting as possible candidates in the future. Its over for them. It is never to be. This is a new time. A paradigm shift. New faces.

Senator Ted passed a torch tonight.

Senator Barack's surrogates caught it, still burning brightly, ready to hand it to him on Thursday.

Jimmy Carter's gracious demurring to Ann Currie early in the evening was the embodiment of it.

Its a new day. And that demands new faces.
