That Debbie gal who did the ad for McCreep... I can't find any
info re what Rachel said last night. Was I dreaming or did I hear Rachel say "the gal thought McCain was pro-choice"?

10. But there are so many like her! This is what worries me to no end.
There are SO, SO many out there who think McCain is a moderate, won't overturn Roe, isn't in lock-step with the failed Bush regime...

They think he's a "maverick", and somewhat middle of the road.

They're WRONG, of course. Terribly, fatally wrong. But we've got to make sure they know that before November!

4. The Truth Is "Pro-Life" Is A GOOP Moneymaker
Boooshie could have done a lot more to destroy a woman's right to choose but that would have cost his corrupt party millions. If they actually made a woman's right to choose illegal, they'd lose millions in "contributions" from the fundies and "low information voters"...and they'd have to find another strawman to build.

5. That's true but it's not like they're going to run out of strawmen
If Roe gets overturned, contraception is next. Or they go after gay people harder.

12. My mother had eight rhythm children because Father Reager
wouldn't even give her permission to use rhythm (she begged him). God love her and may she rest in peace, but she was so weak and naive.

9. That's Already A Moneymaker
But its not getting the mileage. Teh Gays aren't getting the traction this year...but that doesn't mean the GOOP won't try to go to this well in the future. Right now "Abortion On Demand" (like it's despensed from a vendomatic) is where the big coin is...and it plays to many of the fears the GOOP has thrived on over the years...woman's rights, civil rights, gay rights...they want divisions and hatred.

The fear here is that in a "free society" that people should have the rights to self-determination...and that is a threat to the "status quo"...or their own bottom line. Without hatred and fear, the GOOP has nothing...no issues, no ideas...thus they've milked every single phobia they can find and pray, literally, on the most ignorant and fearful in our society (who also tend to be the biggest bible thumpers).

Contraception is already on the burner...while the corporate media obssess if Obama is either a Muslim or a "Liberation Theologist" (codewords for racism), this regime is making it harder for women to get contraception. I've long joked that the reason the GOOP glams on this is their own sexual inadequacies. They just can't stand that Democrats have better sex lives.

Cheers...

6. Bingo! Just got this email:
Recently, the Democratic House in Washington passed a bill to cut down
on the abortion rates with provisions to prevent unwanted pregnancies
and to support new parents.

While this should be good news, your preachers won’t be making this
announcement in the churches. You see, Republicans have been “using”
this issue to get elected for 28 years, and they don’t want it to go
away.

The people who vote on this single matter are notorious for not
holding their elected politicians accountable. The issue is put on the
back burner until the next election.

The real question is this: Will the rates be low or high? Democrats
favor lowering the rates by decreasing the number of unwanted
pregnancies. This is why the rates were low in the Clinton
administration and increased when Bush took over.

Roe v Wade was about offering equal health care to women. Do you
really believe the Supreme Court will rule against equal access to
health care for women?

There were abortions before Roe v Wade (even though the preachers
didn’t preach against it then) and there will be in the future
regardless of the law. The wealthy have always been able to get their
abortions very discreetly, very quietly, and very anonymously.

How ironic that many church members will mistakenly vote for the
continuation of the high rates of abortion by voting Republican!

11. She's a nurse from Racine, Wisconsin
I didn't find out much about her, except she's a nurse in Racine Wisconsin. Once she announced her support for McCain, she lost her seat as a delegate. Her sister served in Iraq, and apparently helped push her to support McCain.

13. That is what she said at a press conference.
Here's the link from Time Magazine. If was the Obama campaign, I'd make a commercial with her stating that about McCain and state that we welcome McCain as prochoice. Apparently McCain made a statement in '99 that he didn't want to overturn Roe V Wade. He immediately recanted that statement and has consistently stated that he is for overturning it.
