Why in hell is Cindy McCain going to Georgia? What is her background in foreign policy that makes her such an expert that she has to go over there? Is this McShrub's idea, just like it was his idea to send Lieberman there? Geesshhh!!

1. The GOP is trying to make Cindy look like she has some substance
to her instead of the vacuous stare and propped up mannequin we see. Well, good luck with that.

8. Bingo!
When even Faux Noise was calling her a "beer heiress" Camp Gramps knew they had to stop the bleeding...try to recast VicoCindy into some kinda of Philanthropist and having some "substance" rather than the image of a spoiled, pampered "princess" who found her "fly boy" as a meal ticket.

This is a vain attempt to try to cast her in a same light as self-made women like Michelle Obama, Hillary Clinton, Elizabeth Edwards and many others in the Democratic party that we are changing the face of American politics.

It also shows how Gramps needs to hide behind her skirt again...

2. She has a half-sister living in squalor over there and she's buying her a house.
They'll make a negative ad out of it.

3. This pretty much sums it up...
From Time: "Her aides say that the timing of the trip, during the Democratic National Convention in Denver, was never a consideration. But that doesn't mean they're ignoring the subtext. "She's on the phone with the World Food Programme; he's on the phone with Saakashvili," McCain adviser Nicolle Wallace told me. "It was a great picture of what they'll be like in the White House."

Pure political theater....its what they are best at.

5. ...
It's not every aspiring First Lady whose comfort zone is a war zone, but such is the case for Cindy McCain, who left Monday on a mission to Georgia to assess the civilian casualties caused by the Russian invasion.

McCain is traveling with the U.N.'s World Food Program, whose work she monitored in Southeast Asia and Africa this spring and summer. McCain planned to meet with Georgian President Mikheil Sakaasvili, and to visit with wounded Georgian soldiers. She would also visit representatives of the HALO Trust, which works to remove landmines and on whose board she serves.

Cindy and John McCain visited Georgia together last year; in an interview with TIME at her Sedona ranch before she left, she emphasized that her years of work on overseas missions was "an important part of what I'm about, what makes me tick."

6. Cindy is going because . . .
she heard the housing prices were cheap over there and she wants to pick up a few more;

she heard her husband's campaign say they needed to work on their southern strategy and she didn't realize which Georgia she was going to;

her husband entered here in another biker contest;

she heard that drugs were cheaper in other countries and she's running low on her "meds";

she's afraid that John will have another PTSD episode and break her other wrist;

she accidentally made the wrong turn in her private plane;

like a lot of other Republicans she'll do anything not to go the Republican Convention;

I'm sure there are lots of other reasons why she went but these are the only ones I can think of right now.

I'm not sure who is traveling with her but this paragraph caught my eye:

She has slipped away from the campaign trail frequently this year: in March, McCain visited Kosovo with HALO to assess progress in clearing minefields there. In June, she was in Vietnam, Thailand and Cambodia, working with Operation Smile, the charity that helps disfigured children and on whose board she also serves. In July, she was in Rwanda, reviewing relief efforts by the World Food Programme. She plans to return to the U.S. from Georgia late Wednesday. "It's a very quick trip," she says.

Two things: the October surprise could come from Kosovo, Vietnam, Thailand, Cambodia, Rwanda, Georgia or points in between. Second, last time Cindy spent time with medical units in an attempt to rebrand the McCain name (AVMT was after and in response to that little mess John got caught up in. As you'll recall, Keating was a friend of Cindy's and her dad's. And Cindy was the one who lost some paperwork that was kinda important to the investigation) she was wacked out on pain medications. It was while she was traveling with AVMT that she was also feeding her pill addiction.

fwiw, also keep in mind that Cindy's arm ends up in a sling. Presumably she got some pain pills. Next thing we know John starts limiting his exposure to the media and then *poof* Cindy disappears. Is there another reason that Cindy needed to leave the country?
