Isn't Palin the governor of a socialist state?
Edited on Fri Aug-29-08 02:55 PM by Generic Other
All the citizens of the state are on the dole. They live in a state that gives them a direct cut in the profits of the business sector. How is what they are doing NOT socialism by GOP definitions? The only other thing it could be is a form of pay-off for cooperating in the exploitation of natural resources by corporations representing big oil.

I don't get it. Why don't all Americans think being a part of this kind of profit sharing plan makes sense? Why isn't Big Oil paying us all for the right to do business in our country? Why aren't pharmaceutical companies paying us yearly dividends for profits they earn at our expense? Why aren't they all sending us yearly checks? In a socialist state like Alaska, we would be getting our cut.

So how is McCain gonna win with a Socialist on the ticket?

2. Good point..
I wonder if Palin is working to, or at least in favor of, ending the checks for Alaskans from the oil production?

4. Nothing builds up an 80% approval rating quite like handing out debit cards

to all comers. :eyes:

Also note that the money for the Alaska Permanent Fund comes from -- drum roll, please -- Big Oil. Note that McCombover, unusually for a repuke candidate these days, has no direct ties to Big Oil. But Palin does -- her husband just returned to his job at BP! -- so Big Oil's interests, at least on the repuke ticket, are secure. :puke:

5. Alaska gets more federal hand-outs....
than any other state, I believe.

It's more like a whole state on welfare than Socialism.

6. That's right, she is.
It is socialism, pure and simple. If Alaskans can get a cut of the oil profits there it can be done here too, especially with companies like Walmart or the defense industry.

7. kick them, leave us alone. we have the dividend from the permanent
fund, which is one of the best run in the world. every state with oil could do the same. we are stuck here next to russia and without oil we would be the least important state in america. since gas is the highest in America and it costs natives in the bush about $2100.00 a month to heat their homes in winter, don't begrudge us having more foresight than your states.

8. I am not complaining! I wanna be part of your socialist state!
Hell, what's good for Alaska should be good for all of us. E Pluribus Unim. Gimme my check!

Of course if John McCain and his base have a problem with social security, medicare, universal healthcare, basic eductation, then I would think their new VP would be the first to denounce her state as a rogue socialist state.

10. I want my share of the Starbucks, Boeing and Microsoft money
Really, I don't begrudge you the dividend check, but I do think there is hypocrisy in the GOP supporting this when they consistently oppose every other social program in this country.

I want to know WHY we don't all get dividend checks like Alaskans get. I suspect others will wonder why not as well.

I'll settle for a penny from Bill Gates everytime Vista gives an error message on someone's computer. :)

14. This is what the pubs have been screaming about the energy rebate
but not the permanent fund...but for some reason they don't mind the corruption of Don Young and Ted Stevens as long as they bring in the pork. Makes no sense.
