I want to send my condolences to Kay Bailey Hutchison.
Kay is my Senator, and while I disagree with her on so many vital issues, I also recognize that she's an immensely talented politician and would make solid Republican VP material.

As a Democrat, I'm ecstatic that McCain passed over Ms. Hutchison in favor of a younger, inexperienced and unqualified political neophyte. As a woman, I really feel for Kay Bailey. Decades of party loyalty ought to count for more than a fresh face.

I hope you pick yourself up and carry on with pride, Kay. We Texas women are nothing if not tough!

1. Boxer's commentary was spot on - there are plenty of qualified GOP women senators. nt

2. INterstly the press is talking about Romney and Pawlenty being mad, but have they
mentioned Ms. Hutchison? (I can't stand her but you do make a good point and I can feel for her on that.)

3. You just know it's because she's pro-choice.
The Republican party is so single-issue that they'd pass up the better candidate just to have somebody who toes the party line.

I disagree with Hutchison on... well, call it 90-95% of all issues, but she'd still be a hell of a lot better and more qualified than Palin.

10. It's also because she's "pretty"
That won't swing voters that weren't committed to voting for Mc.

It will make the bitter pill of Mc go down easier with the party loyal that are embarrassed by him.

8. Condolences would only be required if she was selected as McCains VP candidate.
That ticket is political suicide.

13. Kay Bailey Hutchison is just another garden variety GOP scumbag.
Edited on Fri Aug-29-08 04:22 PM by TexasObserver
And always has been.

She and her hubby skated $9 million of bank debt when their bank failed 20 years ago. Compliments of the Bush family.

15. I thought of her too
as someone who has "paid her dues" in the Republican party. If McCain was going to put a woman on the ticket, he should have considered the handful of experienced female senators who have strong resumes and really deserved to be asked. I think passing them up for someone with a short resume and no national experience at all is a slap in the face.

16. she did not look or sound impressed by the Palin pick at all
when asked about her she just said something about how she doesn't know much about her.

also, i hear that Collins and Snowe will still not be attending the convention.

i seriously believe that the Palin pick will result in many Republican women supporting Obama now. the pick is just so condescending, insulting, offensive etc.
