My Son had a friend
who is now dead.

It doesn't matter.

No one saw him come home.

My son was of the mindset not to be involved with those who go to war, but he has friends.

One died.

My son was a whisker away from following his friends into the military.

Not now.

One died.

Just one that I know.

One young man died because?

2. If your son's friend died
in Iraq, he died to fulfill the neocon dream of spreading free market economics and privatization...with the U.S. being the main beneficiaries of both goals. He died so that the stunted idiot currently occupying the White House could fulfill his dream of being a "war president". He died for nothing good, or beneficial to the people of our country, or Iraq.

If I had a child young enough to enlist, I would move heaven and earth to stop them. Two of my grandchildren are in the right age group, but they have been well taught by their parents, and grandparents, so will not join the service. I am glad your son did not join the military.

All of this bloodshed, and pain, and death, and suffering, it sometimes chokes me, makes me unable to draw a deep breath. I keep thinking that there should be some way, some legal way, to stop this madness. The only solution I know is impeachment, and if after all of Bush's egregious actions, we don't impeach, then when will it ever be enough to make us take that action?

3. Ninkasi, you have spoken what is also in my heart tonight.
What will it take to get the madman and his henchpeople out of office?

5. Don't think your son's friend's death didn't matter
consider this....

SHE DWELT AMONG THE UNTRODDEN WAYS
she dwelt among the untrodden ways
Beside the springs of Dove,
A Maid whom there were none to praise
And very few to love:

A violet by a mossy stone
Half hidden from the eye!
Fair as a star, when only one
Is shining in the sky.

She lived unknown, and few could know
When Lucy ceased to be;
But she is in her grave, and oh,
The difference to me!"
William Wordsworth

We might never know the ones who mourn silently, who had no legal claim on one of our fallen soldier's heart. All of us leave a footprint in this life, but sometimes, it's invisible to all but the ones who cherished it. I pray that your son stays safe, and that all of this country's sons and daughters, and the innocent sons and daughters of Iraq can find safety, and peace.

I don't know what else to do but to forcefully lobby for impeachment. Why should we sacrifice our country's treasure, our children, to the implacable war religion of Bush and Cheney?
