If we had any doubts where THIS was going:
Palin as VP nominee, if you doubted that McCain was serious about overturning Roe v. Wade.
This is a touching story, and my heart goes out to ANY parent of a special needs baby...but I was just thinking.
she JUST had this baby and she IS 44, I know that's not uncommon these days...but your chances of having problems go up after 35.
Does she REALLY not believe in birth control?

Point is I see this as a big story about WHY abortions should be illegal. Although if she really is against birth control, will that be illegal as well?

Juneau, AK (LifeNews.com) -- As many as 80 percent of unborn children diagnosed with Down syndrome become victims of abortion, but Alaska Gov, Sarah Palin didn't let her child become a statistic. Palin, who has deeply-felt pro-life views, gave birth to her fifth child this week and the baby was diagnosed with the condition.

On Tuesday, Palin confirmed her baby, named Trig Paxson, has Down syndrome.

"Trig is beautiful and already adored by us," Palin said in a statement LifeNews.com obtained.

"We knew through early testing he would face special challenges, and we feel privileged that God would entrust us with this gift and allow us unspeakable joy as he entered our lives," she said.

'We have faith that every baby is created for good purpose and has potential to make this world a better place. We are truly blessed," the 44 year-old governor added.

Trig was born on Friday, one month before his due date, and he weighed 6 pounds, 2 ounces.

Pro-life advocates heaped praise on Palin about the news and said she and her family made a courageous decision to keep the baby.

“I can't help but remember Governor Palin’s campaign slogan ‘Take a Stand,'" Debbie Joslin, the president of Eagle Forum Alaska told LifeNews.com.

"Her choice to value life in a very personal way speaks volumes and gives those of us in the pro-life community in Alaska cause to believe that we truly do have a pro-life leader in charge of our state," she said.

"When so many in our culture have chosen to devalue the lives of those who face special learning disabilities, Governor Palin shines as a great positive role model," Joslin added.

Billy Valentine, a pro-life student leader who worked on the presidential campaign of Sam Brownback, was equally excited.

"Thanks be to God that Gov. Palin is pro-life and the baby wasn't one of the 80% of Down syndrome lives that are aborted each year," he said.

"Say a prayer for Gov. Palin and her family and thank God that the baby is blessed with a pro-life family," Valentine added.

The Palins have four other children including Track, 18, Bristol, 17, Willow, 13 and Piper, 7

1. EXCEPT..no one would MAKE her get an abortion...and NO ONE
should force a woman who choses not to have the child to go forward with the pregnancy.

3. and it's easy to decide...
...when you have money, good health insurance and resources to care for the child. Forcing a woman to have a baby (special needs or not) when she's poor, uninsured and alone doesn't help ANYONE.

5. As I often tell people,
If you don't believe in abortion don't have one. Governor Palin doesn't believe in abortion and didn't have one. But she has no right to force anyone else to carry an unwanted child to term. She lives her beliefs, let others do the same.

7. Her CHOICE was to do what she wanted and not be criticized for her CHOICE...
But, the way she treats that baby after they are born is another issue. And dragging that little 4 month old to a Stadium so she could satisfy her own ambitions was something that maybe makes us wonder what the definition of "motherhood and nurturing" is all about.

Could she be suspected of child abuse for dragging that newborn in front of glaring lights and music in front of thousands of people who carry viruses and bacteria that a "newborn" doesn't have the immunity to deal with yet?

What kind of person does this? Father or Mother ....who would do this?

11. Babies. especially ones who are breast fed
can be taken anywhere and everywhere. They don't need to be sheltered and hidden for some magic length of time.

And what you or I would or would not do is not necessarily the standard for others.

12. That's in no way 'child abuse'.
Babies can handle loud noises for a while and strange environments for a while. Exposure to different bacteria and viruses actually help build their immune systems (when encountering 'typical' germs). The babies that are kept isolated in nearly sterile environments will have the most problems later on.

I'm sure if the baby displayed annoyance she would have someone take the baby away. She's got enough problems going on that we don't have to invent them.

13. Supposedly, they're named after towns in Alaska.
'Track' supposedly is for where the child was conceived. On a running track? A track machine? A copy of Road and Track?

Either way- EEWW.

10. McCain should spell out how he intends to punish women
Has anyone received clarification from the Straight Talk Maverick on how he plans to punish women who use the morning after pill, since he says like begins at conception?

Does he plan on sentencing women to death who use the morning after pill? That would make sense according to his perspective, since they'd be taking the life of an innocent human being.

Why doesn't anyone in the MSM ask McCain what he plans to do with these women, sentence them to death, 40 years in prison, life in prison, which is it?

And does his plan to punish these women apply to U.S. citizens who go overseas pregnant and come back non-pregnant?

And where is his agenda for building orphanages for millions of unwanted children per year??
