Will Gustav go over Crawford?

If it does, it will probably be a tropical storm. But can a movie set withstand a tropical storm?

What will Pat Robertson say about it?

1. Uhhh
Crawford's about halfway between Dallas and Austin. Not anywhere near the coast.

3. You think wrong

It was fact. Some people just don't have a basic knowledge of geography.

But, let me edit this to say, Welcome to DU!

5. and some people don't have a basic knowledge of meteorology
It could easily get that far inland as a serious tropical storm. Hurricanes have penetrated, in diminished form, much farther than that.

snark

7. Now, relax
Do you really think a "hurricane" is going to hit Crawford? Maybe a "tropical storm," but a "tropical storm" isn't a "hurricane," is it?

Time for you to relax and maybe have a nice cup of soup. Or a cookie. You'll feel better.

6. It could very possible go over Crawford
Edited on Sat Aug-30-08 09:40 PM by MiniMe
Crawford is a little west of Waco

Here is the NOAA projected map

http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/storm_graphics/AT07/refresh/AL0708W5_sm2+gif/205743W_sm.gif

I can certainly see it going over Crawford, not as a hurricane, as a tropical storm or tropical depression.

8. Perhaps re-reading the entire OP would help here

I never said it would be a hurricane by that time, I mentioned tropical storm. It could certainly be a depression by that time. I do know my geography thank-you for asking.

11. Not this shit again
I remember all the hootin' & hollerin' for Hurricane Rita to take out Crawford & how DUers hoped it would devastate Texas. We Texan DUers really appreciate the love.

Oh, & before posting something this stupid again, look at a map.

12. First, I don't wish destruction on anybody
However, somehow it would be poetic justice. I actually hope this thing dies in the gulf and doesn't hit land, but unfortunately it doesn't look like it's going to happen.

Second, perhaps you should look at a map and look at the storm path again. If it did hit, it wouldn't be a hurricane, it would be a tropical storm or a tropical depression. However, Crawford does lie in the projected path.

13. Sorry, but this crap got old 3 years ago
Why should Texas DUers even bother trying to turn the state blue again when crap like this gets posted again & again because someone who doesn't live here thinks it's "funny?"
