The Week Ahead: Accountability Returns to the House Floor

"During the week of March 12, five good government initiatives from the Committee will be considered on the House floor.

H.R. 1309: Freedom of Information Act Amendments

H.R. 1362: Accountability in Contracting Act

H.R. 1255: Presidential Records Act Amendments

H.R. 1254: Presidential Library Donation Reform Act

H.R. 985: Whistleblower Protection Act"

As you watch these move through debate on the floor of the House, take note of who serves as the floor managers for each side.

4. Remember Enron divisions being sold to UBS and all those documents that went

with them? Sen. Phil Gramm made the move to UBS to continue THAT protection racket.

6. 2 questions regarding tax bills

1. Will they have teeth after the republics get done objecting, amending or holding it up?

2. will they pass the House and Senate before Halliburton moves, and will bush sign them?

3. Yeah, that probably will be they most hyped story (not that it isn't important)

in the media. It's funny how this always happens, the really big story of the day (because there's a new scandal every day now) is always buried by something.

8. On the Democratic Side...

... it could give significant insights into who Waxman perceives as his inner circle/right hands on the committee (assuming he doesn't floor manage each bill himself, personally).

On the GOP side, if it's not Davis (the ranking member), it's likely to signify who the GOP leadership thinks:

1. is safe in 08; and
2. is willing to argue against greater transparency, carrying water for BushCo.

This could become a great opportunity for the Dems to make this/these members household names for fundraising, and top targets for electoral defeat in 08.
