How come yesterday offshore drilling was completely safe and today prices are up
Yesterday offshore drilling was completely safe but today prices are rising because the rigs are in danger from an approaching storm? I have a lifelong prejudice against paradox, maybe someone could straighten this one out for me.

1. There you go again remembering what they said yesterday...
and pointing out contradictions...

You are supposed to be SO distracted by all the "bread and circus" nonsense in the corporate media that you can't remember yesterday and therefore won't be bothered by the contradictions and hypocrisy...

What are you? Some kind of Democrat?

:sarcasm:

2. Where are the market prices appreciably up?
Because they certainly ain't appreciably up on the GLOBEX:

CLV08.NYM Crude Oil Oct 08 116.32 9:42pm ET Up 0.86 (0.74%)<--==1.
HOV08.NYM Heating Oil Oct 08 3.244 9:01pm ET Up 0.0521 (1.63%)
NGV08.NYM Natural Gas Oct 08 7.765 9:41pm ET Down 0.178 (2.24%)<--==2.
PNV08.NYM Propane Gas Oct 08 1.74 Aug 29 0.00 (0.00%)
RBV08.NYM RBOB Gasoline Oct 08 2.9194 9:13pm ET Up 0.0652 (2.28%)<--==3.

1. 86 cents a barrel up ain't all that much.

2. NG is down. Lots of NG is pumped from the Gulf. What does that tell you?

3. Gas is up only 6 cents a gallon.

Are you getting gouged at the pump?

3. It's a question no one in the media will ever bring up. I have pondered this scene, too.
I topped off the tank Saturday evening knowing prices would rise. Under the two oil men, big oil has figured out how to use the weather to make oil prices rise. The profits they take should be forfeited and put back in the pockets of us Americans who are being screwed at the pump.

4. It sounds to me...
As if the gouging is taking place at the distributor and pump levels. It sure is not being reflected in the market.

Write congresscritters. Now.

6. It won't show at the market until Tuesday, watch the speculator's make it rise by five dollars a
barrel by the end of closing just because of a storm. Who is worse, the speculator, or the gouger?

8. Either's head...
Would look quite good, well-tarred and stuck on the head of a pike pole.

5. Possibly because to protect their workers
they pull them off the rigs and shut down during a storm as a precaution.

And for good reason. Disastrous possibilities. Since we are on drilling. I got a letter fro T.Boone Pickens. I guess they will not run his video:http://www.pickensplan.com/news/2008/08/27/too-hot-for-nbc/ because in it he points out that Iran is developing its natural gas so they can sell us more oil. Please pass it on.

9. To put it quite bluntly:
If T. Boone told me the sky is blue, I would expect to look up and see plaid. The man has made a life and career out of pissing on people's boots and telling them it's raining.
