WHY the stupid pregnancy thing matters
IF, if - she went to great lengths to fake a pregnancy to cover for her teenage daughter - what other sorts of deception can we expect from her?

We don't need ANOTHER liar in the Whitehouse.

1. What if she is really a he and all the pregnancies have been faked?
Speculating on the value of manure is pointless it's still bullshit at the end of the day.

2. Why does this have to be explained?
I thought people would get it. So many ask, "Why should I care?" :banghead:

4. You'd think.
We've just had 8 years of people lying and covering for a criminal administration.

Who cares if her daughter was pregnant? It's nothing she should be made to feel ashamed of.

But an elaborate ruse on the part of someone running for high office - damn straight I care.

At least find out the truth. If the story isn't true, so be it. But if it was a ruse, we need to know the truth.

20. Why are we going to look like creeps
if she engaged in a giant ruse to hide her daughter's pregnancy, maybe to secure the VP slot?

OTOH If she didn't, we'll drop it. It does require investigation, though, which I'm sure is taking place.

9. this whole thing is ridiculous
a 44 year old woman is > 1,000 times more likely to have a kid with Down syndrome than her 17 year old daughter - i think it's exceedingly unlikely that this is not her kid - give this a rest

12. ps. 'undeclared gender' person -
Explain how it is that a 44 year old pregnant woman's water breaks and what's she do - go to the hospital? No. Gives a speech, takes an 8 hour flight with layover and DRIVES 45 minutes to some Podunk hospital. I don't think so.

44 year pregnant woman are VERY cautious about their pregnancies, because pregnancy at that age is dangerous. I don't buy it.

11. The REAL issue for me
is that IF her daughter was the one that got pregnant, Sarah had to konw that this would come out during this campaign. What a horrible, selfish way to out her daughter's pregnancy. Sarah Palin only cared about covering for her daughter as long as it didn't interfere with her own life. But dangle a possible VP slot in front of her, and all rationality goes out the window. IF her daughter is the real mother, it will come out -- how horrible and embarassing for the daughter.

What kind of mother does that??

14. Also, the McCain/Palin campaign put Trig on the cover of People magazine.
They didn't put any of the other children in the picture, just Trig.

They've implicitly made the pregnancy a reason to vote for the ticket, so it's proper to verify their story.

Her daughter's pregnanacy probably wouldn't have been such a big deal if she weren't Mrs. Anti-Choice, morality princess governor of Alaska.

I'm an Alaskan. I saw Sarah Palin before her baby was born. She was pregnant -- and we all knew Trig had Down Syndrome. Is this really the best you can do? There are plenty of things to be concerned about with Sarah, but this isn't one of them. And underestimate her at your peril. She's a charmer and has had an 85 percent approval rating here, more even among Democrats than Republicans. She's a nice woman. I've met her personally. I don't agree with all her politics but she's not evil. She's just a good ol' Alaska girl, probably in over her head, but like I said, don't underestimate her.

I'm sorry, I don't think what happens here is nice at all:

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=385x178478

And she is a member of "Feminists" for Life. And they are manipulative and liars. Not nice at all.

Was this nice?: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=132x6859545

Bush's approval rating was at 85 once.

I agree we shouldn't underestimate her, and I think she was actually pregnant, but I don't think she is nice.

32. I was speaking on a purely personal level
from a one-time encounter. I guess I should have made myself a little clearer, but it was late last night and we had just come in from a three-day camping trip, so I wasn't being as precise as I should have been.

I don't agree with her politics AT ALL, and I think she's a terrible choice for vice president. I think this is going to backfire on McCain big time -- which is a good thing for us. I just hope that on the national stage people aren't so blinded by the novelty of an "exotic" Alaskan as VP that they leave their common sense at home on election day.

29. As I have said
The odds are, that since the baby has Down Syndrome, his mother is the 44 Palin and not her 16 year old daughter.

I know that young people do have children with Down's, but it is much more statistically probably for the baby's mother to be the 44 year old, not the 16 year old.

These threads are vile. Not because I give a shit about Sarah Palin - but what about that child who didn't ask for any of this.

Chelsea Clinton should have been off limits to the right, and we were all outraged by the way they treated *a child* -- but this crap is just as bad.

30. It means something to me, because
I'd almost accept the story more if she was covering her daughter, rather than the story of the birth she IS telling. 5th child, two months early, and she took the dangerous risks she took? That's horrible!

31. And the biggest reason why we should leave it alone:
It's no more than rumor-mongering at this point. Leave the "research" to the tabloids, they'll be all over it anyway and don't need our help in any way.

There are PLENTY of verified VALID reasons to attack her: Trooper-gate, her ties to big-oil, her anti-gay and anti-environmental stances, her lack of experience, her pushes to push Christianity in public schools, her harsh anti-women stances and on and on and on. Why is there such a push to focus on some unverified rumor? I don't get it.

Sadly, it's what the lowest common denominators in society do when they find that the "verified VALID reasons to attack her" are lacking in the Titillation Factor.
