David Horowitz is continuing his crusade against alleged “left wing bias” on college campuses with an “Islamo-Fascism Awareness Week part III“. The event, scheduled to take place October 13-17, has the primary objective of defunding the Muslim Student Association (MSA).

Horowitz recently appeared on Al-Jazeera, in part to promote his latest campus crusade. If his writings on the internet don’t appropriately convey his anger, belligerence and intolerance, then his Al-Jazeera segment more than accomplishes the job.

IslamoHorowitzism Awareness Week

"Before David Horowitz began warning America about the dangers of communism in the eighties, he spent years fervently celebrating communists during the sixties.

So it's no surprise that before he began warning us all about the dangers of "Islamofascism," he spent years fervently celebrating Islamofascists. Below is a picture of Horowitz from a 1986 Mother Jones profile. As you can see, his t-shirt reads "Support Afghan Freedom Fighters." There's also a sketch of a man holding an assault rifle who looks vaguely like Osama bin Laden.



Currently Horowitz runs the David Horowitz Freedom Center. Look for his angry denunciations of his current dupes and fellow travelers circa 2027."

The thing about Horowitz is that he's just an insane nutbag who'll latch on to whatever ideology looks good at the moment. From Leninist to anti-left witch hunter, who tries to pinpoint the world's problems on a single enemy and proposes some kind of goofy, if not utopian, solution. He exaggerates his enemies' bads and his own side's goods.

A lot of us are guilty of the same irrational thinking, albeit to different degrees. We have a set of underlying values and attitudes and use them to form ideologies that most closely represent our observations and emotional reactions to such observations. Problem is that it's all too easy for wishful thinking to get the best of us. When we figure out that our ideology has too many ugly holes, it is tempting to find another one, without realizing that it is our reasoning that needs to be reformed or at least refined.
