GOP and Labor Day
Am I the only one who finds the decision to begin the GOP Convention on Labor Day as both ironic and insulting?

The party that represents everything anti-worker deliberately chose to open it's convention today....yet all we talk about is Babygate...

Babygate is a distraction folks and typical of the Republican tactic of diverting us from talking about the real issues:

In no particular order

Healthcare
Wages
The war in Iraq
Veterans Benefits
The erosion of the Bill of Rights

Let's stay focused people....we can't fall for the same old trick.

1. Maybe they wanted to highlight their VP's baby story!
I'll tell you what they can do with their purple heart band-aid...stick it ....on their wounded convention!

They need to ask the new GOPer VP/Beauty Queen what comes 9 months after all those New Years parties the have mores go to at the country club ..........Labor Day!

2. those issues at the bottom are going to decide this election..

Far too many are hurting, and McCain's Nurse is insulting to the real issues facing America. The media can say whatever it wishes, no one really believes that if McCain kicks the bucket, she'd be able to carry out these elections..

I actually know a fair many who are pissed off all around with these elections.. They don't think we have good candidates on either side... Now, granted, some haven't taken a really good look at Obama, but after the convention and the VP pick in Biden, I think they may be warming up to the idea... The Republican option is a 72 yr old man who seems to be in the wrong party this year.. But many respect his service, POW, and his old voting record.. my mom said what is going on with McCain, you know at times during his Senate career, there was speculation that he was going to cross over and be a D. Its really sad to see him adopt these crazy ideas and NOT stand up to Bush.. and now he picks this Who? Of course, everyone diverts to me to ask what's going on and their background. She was a bit skeptical of Obama.. but she's warmed up to him and really respects his VP choice in Biden... It has made her feel more comfortable with a younger person than herself running the country.

The issues are real people, not whether Palin had a baby or not.. there's enough on her to question McCain's judgement in picking her as his VP.

You hit the nail on the head...

Hopefully this frenzy over the baby issue will fade and we can get into the substance behind this election soon. I suspect Gustav and Hanna will be taking up a lot of our attention these next few days...

4. Its been a long, long election season.. Its lasted almost 2yrs.
Most have already decided who to vote for and are not going to change.. some who were on the fence, are either not going to vote or vote for Obama, he's now the safest choice.. I think news other than these election on the cable cycle will be good for us all. Puts life in perspective and makes one realize that we haven't had any news but elections lately and its become almost a game.

8. we've let that one slide far too long
which is what our "leaders" would want, uneducated idiots listening to other idiots and not thinking.

Used to be, we led the world in educating our children, now we have FCAT, LCAT, deadcats and no one seems to be really learning.

Peace
