6. I was there when OSHA first came in and all the right wingers
were disgusted and contemptuous when one of the first things OSHA did was issue a 15 page document on ladder safety. It turned out that a lot of people were getting killed or crippled by falls from faulty ladders. Even in steel mills, people are killed not by the exotic hazards but by dumb things like walking between rail cars.
