2. I agree that there is still something mighty odd about that situation.
I wonder if we will ever know what happened.

8. i would think so...
but a governor would certainly have the pull to have it NOT mentioned...

the problem here is, that to have the governor NOT be the mommy takes a huge conspiracy...too many people to keep it quiet. if it ain't the gov's baby...there will be someone to come forward...like a doc or nurse or attending physician...

I wouldn't wanna be the doc to blow off HIPAA on this one.

27. And lose their license?
Nope, we know the rules on that one. Patient (Bristol and her child) confidentiality trumps a lying Governor. Not a single person who works in that hospital can or should contradict the official story. Now, getting a copy of the birth certificate and adoption papers would be a way to find out.

7. What is Hospital policy?
Can parents opt out of having the picture put online? After all she is the mother and might have decided to not have her son's picture posted.

Just something to think about.

16. Well gee wizzzzzzzz
I guess all of you gossip mongers can drop this one and move on now. I doubt that any of this shit is going to have an effect on the gun loving, bible thumpers. What we should be doing is figuring out how to make sure Obama sticks to his promise to get us out of this war, shut down the big oil companies and provide some decent health care.

You guys seem to spend way too much time nitpicking.

11. Something is really strange
On the one hand she acts like her life is an open book- but on the other hand, what she tells you just doesn't add up.

15. maybe they felt they'd get enough press
Often times to get posted on the hospital website there is a charge involved. They could easily have thought that it'd be a waste of money for them to do it, particularly if they knew they'd get real press.

12. It's voluntary
There are numerous rules that force the hospital to ask patients about releasing certain information. To have their child featured on the website they would have had to sign releases while in the hospital. Many don't do that for privacy reasons, and not wanting to put their baby up there. Some hospitals charge for the service via third parties, and many people think it's just a silly waste of money to pay 10-15 bucks to have their baby on the website.

Not being there is evidence of nothing other than those two babies having been born there that day and their parents consenting to have them on the website.

I say this as someone who has worked with a hospital on this very thing a few years back. it's absolutely not automatic.

18. Yeah I saw that post above
You'd be surprised how many people opt out of being on the hospital website. Often times it's sold to the people as part of a package that they don't want. Soemtimes it's just to have the picture up on the website, and people just say no because they see no need for it. I imagine a governor of a state would assume she'd get enough coverage.

When my kids were born I declined the service. Not out of privacy concerns but because I was able to put my own website together with pictures and an announcement, why use a crappy hospital one?

It's evidence of nothing and not worthy of this discussion.

But we seem to have caught The Palin in another lie. Maybe she had the kid at home. In the manger.

25. You can opt out of it for privacy reasons.
Chances are, they signed the papers stating they only wanted family to visit and maybe clergy and no pictures or anything. I would've if I'd been them--governor with a new baby should get some privacy.

26. As others have mentioned
Parents don't always participate in having their children listed or pictured on such sites. One of my coworker's wife had a baby at our local hospital as did one of the women that I teach through a volunteer organization and neither one were listed on the hospital site. Both were obviously pregnant and had no motive to lie about where they were having their babies.
