"A post on the Minnesota Independent has a link to ColdSnapLegal’s invaluable twitter, which shows a detailed breakdown of prior incidents involving police and protesters that have been happening throughout the day. The twitter shows a report of Democracy Now! journalists being arrested and includes Amy Goodman. "

3. That police officer just bought himself a long lawsuit.
He thought he was simply arresting just another protester, but this one will result in repercussions. The arrest was entirely without any basis.

Who are these goons playing dress up?

4. I wonder if that's because when she was arrested a bunch of people realizing it was Amy started to
yell, Let Her Go!

5. Most of the "reasoning" presented by the police isn't making sense
to me; but I'm still stuck in a pre-9/11 mindset. Some codswallop about civil liberties and such. I haven't yet been able to wrap my brain around the post-9/11 mindset.

:(

7. Do you mean the overt fascism? I was an anti-war teenager during Vietnam and

saw the same fascistic police tactics first hand then. It's just getting different with intimidating storm trooper costumes, pepper spray, rubber bullets, stun guns but batons were used then like they are wielded now.

10. Preemptive Arrests...
don't even think about reporting on this. I read that they knew who she was because before they put her in the van she one of the 'police' said they were isolating her from the others who were arrested.

15. Isolating her from the others
because they don't want a competent journalist to know what they're doing.

6. WTF is up with Minneapolis? I have attended peace protests in
Washington and New Orleans, and never have the police acted like this. Are there police provocateurs in the crowd? A la 1968?

Today's Star Tribune added that the raids were specifically "aided by informants planted in protest groups." Back in May, Marcy Wheeler presciently noted that the Minneapolis Joint Terrorist Task Force -- an inter-agency group of federal, state and local law enforcement led by the FBI -- was actively recruiting Minneapolis residents to serve as plants, to infiltrate "vegan groups" and other left-wing activist groups and report back to the Task Force about what they were doing. There seems to be little doubt that it was this domestic spying by the Federal Government that led to the excessive and truly despicable home assaults by the police yesterday.

16. More than likely Yes. And I bet this is our Homeland Security dollars
biting us in the butt - turning these police into militaristic thugs.

18. Denver Model - shock and awe
I felt the police presence during the DNC was extremely unproportional to the size of protesters.

"From the first day of the convention, Denver presented an overwhelming force of riot police, police on horseback, bike, and foot, as well as an awesome array of police cars, buses for mass arrests, swat tanks, and large SUV’s to transport officers." - by August 31st, 2008 CoyoteJ at http://dnc.kgnu.org/

Now "the Denver Model" has been "succesful", they use it elsewhere with confidence and affirmation....

17. She must be released immediately
Is there anything that the police can possibly say to justify this arrest?
