John McCain is no longer the candidate.
Edited on Fri Sep-05-08 12:04 AM by SoCalDem
This race is now:

Obama/Biden v Palin

Fertilla the Huntress does not need him.. She'll send Grandpa out there to do his little staged "town hall meetings", and she will go hang out with the "briefers"..

They will upload a catalog of "zingers" for her to use on Biden, and when she's had the History of the World of Geo-politics (Cliff notes version) spoon-fed to her, she will emerge...rested, unquestioned, and ready to snark her way across America, charming the men, and firing up the wimmin-folk.

McCain will be the tag-a-long.. He may be the one who brought her to the dance, but he's also now the one who will check her coat, get her punch, and then stand there and watch as she dances with everyone BUT him..

I hope this one night of glory, as he finally accepted the nomination, was worth it. They may have nominated HIM...but they chose HER ...He's just the vehicle...she's driving..

Way to go John.. You claim to be the maverick/the deal-broker, and if you manage to "win", you deliver the country you say you love so much, into the hands of the people you loathe the most..

If you lose, YOU get blamed for dragging poor little Sarah down..

18. Johnny Mac will have to watch his back if he actually gets elected...
Last night Mr. H said he really believes McCain will be assassinated to put her in the Oval; someone else said McCain will have to get a food-taster; and today I read on DU about the theocrats and their "imprecatory prayers": God should only give him salvation and then kill him.

Here's what I wonder now: You know those card tricks where the dealer gets the mark to choose the card the dealer wants him to choose? What if McCain's oh-so-impulsive choice of Caribou Barbie was just the "choice" of a mark being manipulated by a card shark?

Hekate

19. PLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEZE,
I'm begging you, send her back to Alaska. It's not our fault she's doing this -- they didn't talk to anyone up here about her -- no Republicans, no Democrats, no Independents -- none of her enemies, none of her friends. Just send her back here, and we'll deal with her. She needs to finish the job she started here, the one she was hired to do for four years. Just send her back.

x( He didn't finish what he started in Texas either. Too eager to exploit the rest of America and he did. I imagine that Palin is chomping at the bit for her turn to ruin what's left of the Country. And here I didn't think the goppers could come up with any one worse than george. They've outdone themselves with this one.

21. Worried indeed..
First of all, great pics of Cheney and Evil Sexy, lol

Secondly, they already have their eye on 2012, win or lose this election. Mark my words, she is the Republican presidential candidate in 2012, and by then she will have 4 more years experience. We need to take her down so hard that she cannot recover. This is serious.

23. Yes.. This was her launch into the "big-time". The republican party had no future.
Edited on Fri Sep-05-08 04:59 AM by SoCalDem
By Cheney choosing himself, he took away their chance at continuity, via a vice president. They had to roll the dice in '08, and were hoping that Macaca Allen, man-on-dog Santorum, Dr. Video Frist, or even the Jebster could slide in as the candidate. George did such a shitty job, that no one was eager to ever have to say the Bush name again, Allen & Santorum were booted out on their asses, and Dr.CatKiller preferred the big money in the private sector....which allowed a lackluster crew of candidates this year, and voila...that damned McCain guy ended up the winner.. a likely one-termer if he even won.

The power-brokers of the RNC were not willing to sit out the next 8 years, only to start over. They hand-picked Mrs. Moose to be their "lady-in-waiting" if McCain gets shot down yet again.

By introducing her in a coronation/beauty pageant, they could at least drum up enthusiasm galore...hopefully enough to last during an Obama administration, after which the "base" would be all fired up and ready to exact revenge, and Mrs. Moose would be a youngish 50-something, with some experience...and possibly become the first female president..

There would probably be no more "add-water & stir" instant pregnancies at that age, and republican legislators know how to disrupt and stall legislation, so they could easily make Obama's administration ineffective, setting the stage for a triumphant return.

Republicans are patient...and devious..and dangerous

36. Good analysis. That's also why Tim Pawlenty and Bobby Jindal
were pushed as possible VP nominees. They are trying to move away from the old and rebuild for the future. I truly believe Palin while also on the list as a future bright star, was not their first pick. She was selected for one reason only, the female vote.

and Piyush may "play" in N'Awlins & Baton Rouge where multi-cultural is ho-hum, but he would never be acceptable in most republican strongholds.. Sarah is their Great White Hope..and 4 years of training will make her a formidable opponent in '12, UNLESS the National Enquirer manages to discredit and completely humiliate her, and she loses the next Alaskan election.

38. The Democrats need to ignore Palin and focus on McCain and the issues, I think.
Palin is clearly the strongest part of the ticket; the Democrats need to keep dragging the weaker parts - their policies, and McCain - back into the limelite, and resisting the temptations either to attack Palin or to "play nice" with her - both of those will backfire, I think.

45. Great post SoCalDem. This woman has already energized the Repugs far beyond their wildest dreams.
I have to tell this because there's a woman I know who is a Democrat who was saying last week that she was going to vote for Obama, but yesterday when I asked her if she saw Palin's speech she lit up like a sparkler and said "Yeah, wasn't SHE GREAT!!! I really like her." I couldn't believe my ears.

Today I was mentioning some of Fertilla's (I LOVE that one) er, discrepancies in her story versus the reality. I could tell that my female Democratic friend did not like hearing about them. This is crazy!!

The frickin' Repukes are geniuses at this type of shit. And, to be honest, I think that Obama's "high road" campaigning is going to cost him and us the Presidency. You cannot debate these people. You can only DEBUNK THEM. They are liars. Professional liars. There is no way to gently persuade Americans of McAnus and Fertilla's LYING, DECEITFUL WAYS. These lies must be confronted head-on and EXPOSED or they become imbedded in the public memory as FACT. Right now, Sarah Palin, in the eyes of too many Americans, is a patriotic, Christian, mother of five, loving wife and all-American woman who worked her way up the hard way. When in fact, she is not a patriot, she's a rabid fundamentalist Christian, a climate change denier, allegedly a multiple adulteress, a Big Oil and Coal shill, a vindictive politician who takes no prisoners, and a supporter of Alaskan separatists.

I am really worried about this because in the last two elections the Repukes have used their propaganda and disinformation skills to beat us. Or rather to keep the race so close that they could steal the election.

46. Exactly.. They only need to get "close".. No one would have believed
"close" , if it had been Mccain/Lieberman or Mccain/Romney..

She is his "hook", and little Trig is her "hook"..

The polls only need to "show" that :

1...the women are energized
2...the religious right LOVES this woman
3...she "captured" Hillary's voters
4...People LOVE her family

those are all "un-provables"..and all the repubes need is "close" in a few key states, and we've got '00 & '04 all over again..only worse this time, because we START OUT BROKE, and LOATHED by MOST OF THE WORLD..and in two wars..

at least GWB started out with "good times"..

We all know that polls can be set up to show whatever the pollster wants them to say, so be prepared for an onslaught of "we love sarah" polls.
