I have yet to see much discussion of the ominous similarity
between the Monica Goodling hiring policy and the selection of Caribou Barbie.

The so-called vetting seems to have been some jamoke with a bible in each hand saying 'do you love jeeeesus?' three times.

But seriously, the very-far-extreme rapturist fundamentalists have an agenda, and it ain't pretty.

They believe that when armageddan comes, the "chosen" will rise up bodily to heaven, and the rest will be "left behind." They really believe this literally. There is no reasoning with them, because anything said to the contrary is just the devil speaking. They are every bit as wacked-out as the islamists who believe if they blow themselves up and take a few infidels with them they will immediately go to heaven and have 70 virgins to play with.

They are conducting an insurgency, the tip of which we saw in the JD hiring/firing scandals but which permeates the fed govt. All they want to do is get to the seat of power so they can trigger the "end of days." They believe that current events fulfill the pr4edictions in revelations, and all they have to do is give it that final shove. I don't think mccain had much sayso in the selectio; he is doing as he is told.

They are going for broke by getting this woman where they have her; will make every effort to steal the election, and then grampa will either die or have to resign for health reasons.

We'll have at best, a fundamentalist theocracy, at worst the end of the world.

Think this is too far-fetched? Ask the Iranians what they thought before the Islamic Revolution.

3. yeah, but so are the Islamists
Crazy kooks don't holler from soapboxes on streetcorners any more. They take over governments.

That so-called "9/11 tribute" was a blatant effort to revitalize the masses. They just want lots of people believing that they are "doing god's work" against "satan" and they have more and more crazy kooks joining the mob.

6. pretty much everyone is
crazy except me. I just deal with the insane world the best I can....fundies drive me nuts though. always trying to convert everybody. I lived in Utah for a while, the Mormons harassed me nearly every day. What is up with that? I don't go around knocking on doors telling them to believe in nothing and be just like me...

Oh well. I try to be nice.

5. Read "The Family".
http://www.amazon.com/Family-Secret-Fundamentalism-Heart-American/dp/0060559799/ref=pd_bbs_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1220610788&sr=8-1

I've just begun to read it so I can't really comment on it, but my dad recently finished it and says it explains everything. Very scary shit.

7. Agree!
Fundamentalists of any kind limit choices. It is their choice or death. I do not care where they are from. It is a do it my way or go to hell philosophy.

These are scary folk!

9. And the real irony of it is
Edited on Fri Sep-05-08 06:19 AM by zeemike
That this does fit the prophesies. but just the opposite of what they say (which if you think about it makes sense)
Even Jesus warned that in the later days many "false prophets" would arise and claim that they were working in his name, and if it were possible, would "fool even the very elect"

Well without a doubt there are many false prophets out there like Palins pastor, and all of the TV preachers like Pat Robertson and his minion.
And what they are is the Harlot riding on the back of the beast.
I won't bother to explain that but I bet some of you know what I mean.
