Libya
I'm watching CNN video of Condi going to visit Libya. If I recall, Col. Quadaffi was a terrorist and an enemy of peace in the days of Ronald Reagan (much like Saddam Hussein, who was our buddy back then). Now, he's our friend.

So, I guess we do negotiate with terrorists? I thought they only understood one language -- force? I'm confused.. maybe it's just me.

3. nope.
Of course they cling to the hope he can be overthrown or put out of office by the opposition they fund, but should he pull a Castro and stay there for 50 years, he WILL become "not so bad after all".

5. Thanks -
I'm well away from the coast, but am expecting to get wet. My worries are for the folks down east.

6. Russia wants all the gas and some of the oil.
I just posted this, but everybody's obvioulsy too engaged in Palin-gate to care:

I'm thinking, the rush to get Condi over there to drink some tea with Gaddafi has something to do with the Russians (them again!) wanting to buy most of Libya's oil and all its and natural gas.

IHT: July 08

"Gazprom wants to buy any additional natural gas produced by Libya and some of the country's oil, the North African country's top oil official said Wednesday.

'Gazprom has expressed its willingness to buy Libyan oil and any available quantities of gas,' Shokri Ghanem told Reuters, adding it did not mean Gazprom would buy all of Libya's oil.

Earlier on Wednesday, Gazprom said in a statement after its chief executive, Alexei Miller, met with the Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi that it hoped to buy 'all future volumes' of gas, oil and liquefied natural gas available for export at market prices."

Lucky for Rice, Gaddafi seems to have some sort of strange crush on her.

NYT:

"Speaking to the Al Jazeera network last year, Mr. Qaddafi got downright gushy when asked about Ms. Rice. 'I support my darling black African woman,' he said. 'I admire and am very proud of the way she leans back and gives orders to the Arab leaders.'

He continued: 'Yes, Leezza, Leezza, Leezza,' and said, 'I love her very much.'"

Little does he know she doesn't swing that way. . . but she might be into his all female squad of body guards.
