Leave Levi & Bristol alone
I'm totally series. They are a really cute couple: holding hands, expecting their first, all smiles, probably messin around in the hotel room. They are the modern day Romeo & Juliet. Forbidden love and all that. Sarah Palin is a creature who we must destroy. But loading up on Levi & Bristol is a mistake. Nobody despises the right wing more than me. But I like a good love story, and this is a good love story.

1. A "good love story" - What's so good about it? (did I miss sarcasm)
Edited on Fri Sep-05-08 01:40 PM by marylanddem

Those of us who know about the ramifications of shotgun marriage could hardly call this a happy love story.

edited in light of possible sarcasm by OP - o.k., your're right, this could be a happy love story. And I'm SERIES too!

But, I agree with leaving them alone. Them, not Mrs. Moose who needs to get the Worst Parent in the World Award.

They can't hold a candle to the easy, supportive bonds the Obama family presents in every appearance.

The vibe I get from this family is that one of these days, someone is going to get shot. I'm not kidding. This is not a good situation.

46. You and I deeply agree yet again.
I DON'T find the Palin kids "adorable" at all .... I find them deeply disturbing and JOYLESS. These are emotionally abused kids in a dysfunctional home ... no significant nurturing whatsoever and what 'love' exists is VERY CONDITIONAL.

Piper's behavior towards Trig is VERY telling ... acting out her own yearning for what she herself craves. That's one sad kid.

61. The Biden family shows all the signals of emotional health - rare in a political family.
The contrast between families couldn't be greater than between the Obamas and the Palins. I've RARELY seen ANY nuclear family better adjusted than the Obamas ... in or out of politics. There are some things that can't be faked ... and the body language of Malia and (especially) Sasha are remarkably healthy. It's really quite remarkable. (And I'd say that even if they were Republicans!!)

When I saw the extended Biden family, I saw people that were glad to be with one another ... people that SOUGHT each other's company. That's real family. I get NONE of the same vibes with the Palins ... and very little from the McCains.

Now the Bush family ... well ... they're like a bunch of crooks in collusion with each other. They're a 'family' in the organized crime sense.

The word, my dear is SERIOUS. A "series" is what you watch on television or read from JK Rowling.

It's from the "English is stupid", chapter 800. But the sad truth is, not knowing how to spell your native language means you don't get taken....

In the play, political pressures conspire to keep them apart, not weld them together against their wills. I'm willing to bet, in fact, that Levi's been the lucky recipient of a handsome pay-off, courtesy of the RNC. Shakespearean, yes, but SO not romeo and Juliet.

On edit: my bad if you're being ironic. Missed the "series" thing, which should have been an indicator, had I been paying attention.

51. And a moran. True mavricks support them. (and a reflection)
Legally, Levi is an adult and can make his own decisions. Based on his myspace comments, I doubt that, but that's the law.I think there are a lot of Levis in this country, young men with sub-par educations (maybe the school, maybe the parents, maybe themselves, I don't know) who identify with him: they're facing a marginal future since many blue collar jobs no longer exist in the country. They see other people their age going to college, but it's not for them. All they have is sports and a hard working life. One of them just hit the big time, showing those city-slicker, liberal college kids what real men are like. He's going places (at least until he's no longer needed) and subliminally telling them their kind is taking back the country.

That's why Palin's handlers dragged him out and put him in the spotlight. IMHO.

Face it ... Bristol's close to being a lost cause and she's on her own at this point. The prognosis isn't good. Her mom's an overcompensating attention whore ... Daddy's Little Girl turned into a 'Heather'/Coulter. BOTH her parents stopped developing emotionally in grade school ... still playing out the Beauty Queen and Sports Jock melodrama. Rarely have I seen people their age much less qualified to be parents.

38. It's Out Of Our Hands Now...
Greetings...this story has gone viral beyond us dirty fk'in hippies...all we're doing now is playing telephone...the old game that is especially popular in the beltway. The RNC has invited the scrutiny as they hoisted an unknown into the political landscape in the midst of a very acidic campaign and opened a Pandorra box of both questions and speculation. They made a cynical play here and many of us are observing this game and commenting on the fallout that's ensued.

I honestly don't think we need to destroy Grandma Barracuda...she and her handlers will handle that. She exhibits all the "best" elements of Dan Quayle and Ann Coulter with the "life story" that is tabloid fodder. Her "emergence" has become a PR war that the corporate media has sucked up and has created both its own synergy (love/hate) and a major distraction for Camp Gramps...and we should keep that in mind.

Yes, it's a "great love story"...how life without Roe v. Wade would be...wrapped up in political ambition, but it has nothing to do with the millions who are losing homes (9.2% of all mortgages are either behind in payments or in foreclosure), unemployment (8 straight months of declining job growth), oil prices still being manipulated and millions being thrown at Gramps to make sure things stay that way and 47 million people without adequate health care. Bristol, Trig even Alaskan troopers and the corporate media have zero to do with this.

Keep the eye on the prize.

Cheers...

:hi:

where Sarah was going to try to force her daughter to marry right after the convention, THEN announce the pregnancy, but NE went with it, and forced her to announce the pregnancy early? And that Bristol was very much against it?

I wonder how many people she used to threaten Levi to stick around? Was it just Sarah?

I can hear him being dragged into a dimly lit room and sat down at a cold table, Sarah staring him down from across the table.

"You will NOT ruin this for me you little shit! Do you have any idea what I could do to you? Your family? DO YOU??!! Now this is how its gonna go down. You are going to marry Bristol. And you are going to cut the shit, and be the father and husband, and you are going to like it. Is that understood? IS IT!?!"

"yes ma'am..."

"Damn right, yes ma'am. And if you play this smart, like I know you will....maybe I can find some work for you. Maybe even a hockey scholarship. How's that sound? But let me make this clear...If you try to screw me over, or you even flinch the wrong way, you will be finished. Done. 'Pack your bags to Iraq, never see you again', done, ya got me? Nobody fucks with me. I'm the fucking Barracuda. Especially not some piss-shit nobody teenager. Understand?"

"...yes ma'am"

"Alright, we have an understanding." Then Sarah stands up, flips her hair, straightens her suit, and walks calmly to the door. She turns to the man in the suit and whispers, "Let him go, for now." Then she slightly looks back at Levi, still trembling at the table, and with her eyes cut to him, she says to the omnious man in the suit, "Watch every move he makes.", and walks out.

That's just one scenario. But, he probably loves her, and it's all real, and they will be happy together.

65. She's too old for the part. Juliette was 13. And, Romeo wasn't a jock.

66. I feel bad for Bristol. But it's her mom's fault for dragging her into the national limelight.
I don't get along too well with my Republican fundie Catholic mom, but wow, she looks like a sweetie next to this person. So self-serving.

68. Oh give me a break...Romeo and Juliet.
You better go read the play again. And it's not a love story, it's a shot-gun wedding and he'd better act happy and lovey dovey or ole Dick will take him hunting. Sure they probably love each other but teens fall in and out of love rather frequently.
