If being "the elite" is so bad, what would today's GOP say of our founding fathers.

The founding fathers were upper class lawyers, doctors, merchants, publishers, etc. They were better educated than the common citizen at the time, they were born into middle/upper class families and they lived in a fashion well beyond the means of "blue color" worker of the time. Most probably lived in what passed for luxury during that period and most probably didn't dirty themselves with any real physical labor over any extended period of time.

Yet these "elites" helped put the cornerstones in place that gave birth to the United States and led it through its infancy.

Would today's GOP make snide commments about them if they were still alive today? From the looks of things, probably.

2. Even the working class guy, Paul Revere, was a first rate silversmith
His stuff is in museums today and not just because of his famous ride.

In other words he was, dare I say it, an "elite" artisan.
