Bill Moyers Journal tonight - how deployments of the National Guard
affect those left behind.
Among the stresses of daily life — rising fuel prices, falling home values, a faltering economy — Americans might forget that The United States has been at war in Afghanistan and Iraq for seven years. But for families with members in the military, the wars are part of daily life.

Not all the troops participating in Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom are full time soldiers. Many of the U.S. forces deployed in Iraq and Afghanistan are part-time troops called to active duty from the Army National Guard and Reserve. These teachers, maintenance workers, business-owners, fathers and mothers have been called to active duty in numbers not seen since World War II.

BILL MOYERS JOURNAL spoke with members of the New Jersey National Guard to learn about the particular strain the wars put on citizen-soldiers as they prepare for deployment to Iraq — some for the second time.

6. You know I hadn't given any thought to the impact of
the sub-prime crisis on schools. What a mess. Schools cutting back number of days.
Vote them out.

12. Remember Tropical Storm Hanna is about to move along
the South East Coast starting tonight. I hope for everyone's sake, that the National Guard is not needed in New Jersey over this weekend. The States must stand up for their rights.
