1. No, but I spent a Summer enjoying the book.
I never read that sort of thing, but it came highly recommended.

That was one book that I never wanted to end.

2. The book and the movie bear very little relation to each other.
I read the book, and saw the play later. The sequel is not so great.

I thought it was a masterpiece - - true genius.

The sequel was almost as good. I think there's a third one in the works.

I have not seen the show, which I hear is very good, but they changed a lot of the plot elements, so people who have seen the musical and then read the book are caught off-guard by the depth of the latter. However, the music is really, really fantastic.
