We went to my husband's family reunion in Terre Haute, In. today. As we were heading back home, all of a sudden, several police cars showed up out of nowhere. They blocked all cross streets, and on ramps to the interstate.

Ten minutes later, there was still no traffic moving. Then, a flurry of red flashing lights. Several state police cars in front, then 3 identical SUVs, 2 buses, and more police. I knew it had to be somebody very important, which eliminated all Republicans.
Besides, they don't feel they have to bother campaigning in Indiana anyway.

I didn't know until a couple hours later it was Obama. Turns out he had spoken at the county fair, and what we had witnessed was the trip back to the local airport. I would rather have been there, listening to him, then where I had spent the day. Maybe next time, if there is one.

I was pleased to see all the security, though. I do fear for his safety.

On a related note...my daughter called me tonight, told me (for the 3rd time) that initially thinking she would sit out this election because she wanted Hillary, she would be casting her vote for Obama...

because of Palin! :)

I wish I could've made it up that way for the Obama event.

Bush drove by me while I was at the Indianapolis airport, a few years back. I knew which road they were going to take... so I walked out to the street and ask the single cop by the road if I could "stand here and watch them go by"... he first got on the radio, and then looked at me and said ok. The vehicles seemed to go by forever... in the middle of all them was 3 armored limos... Bush was in the middle one... he looked right over at me as he passed and waved... haha.

3. BELIEVE ME....
I truly wanted to flip him off... but I was on the clock and working at the time... I hate em, but I didn't feel like getting real crazy with it. Plus, all those SS guys hanging out the windows with loaded weapons, I have to admit, was pretty intimidating.

Around the same time... Big Ole Dick Cheney was visiting downtown Indy. I drove by and noticed some of the roads blocked off, so I figured I'd park and try to catch a glimpse. I walked up the road and stood on the corner, in front of a bar... some people came out of the bar and asked what was going on... I said, "Vice President Dick Cheney is in town and he's about to go by". Then they asked me if it was ok to stand outside and watch... I said, "no, you'll have to go back in for just a moment". HAH! You see, I had my black suit and shades on (working again). Hell, they were just going to stand out there and clap and I wasn't going to let that happen. Dick snarled at me when he went by... no joke!

4. Happy for your good news, Contrary
Happy to hear about your daughter seeing the light!

I think Obama -for security reasons- comes into a town fast, with little advance publicity. Back when Bill Clinton campaigned for President there'd be local promotion almost 2 weeks in advance of a rally!
