Heart Just Doesn't Get Mad...They Get Even...
It appears Grandma Baracuda will be able to continue to use the song written by Heart back in 1978...but it's gonna cost 'em...

http://www.dailykos.com/storyonly/2008/9/6/65244/58475/50/588787

Unfortunately for the Wilson sisters, "as the song is licensed for public performance under a blanket fee," and since the McCain campaign paid those fees to use the song, there is nothing Heart can do about its use. But there is a bright side to this story. Roger Fisher, the band's former guitarist and co-writer of the song said that:

...he strongly endorsed the Democratic ticket, and would donate a portion of royalties he receives from the Republicans' airing of "Barracuda" to the campaign of Sen. Barack Obama.

"With my contribution to Obama's campaign, the Republicans are now supporting Obama," he said.

I'm thinkin' of one kick-ass pre-election concert...

Bruce Springsteen
Heart
Jacksone Browne
John Mellencamp
Stevie Wonder
Jon Bon Jovi

and other artists who are supporting Senator Obama...

Damn me...

The Chicks have been pretty quiet this election. Maybe cause Toby Keith is an Obama supporter? Imagine him and Natalie in a duet.

But I hear Obama can't use Brooks & Dunne. Damn...I'm "concerned" I tell ya.

Cheers...

5. I know if it was me and they used my song and caused a million downloads or more
I'd use that money and make a commercial detailing who they are and they do not believe Palin represents sensible women and why - Palin is an EXTREMIST.. her beliefs on religion, environment, wildlife and such are ATROCIOUSLY bad...

7. Cool! The commercial idea is good, perhaps they could release a new
(soon to be hit) song that is a slam at McCain/Palin as well. B-)

Personally I really don't get why they're using that song. I've never associated the word "barracuda" with being a positive personality trait although OTOH they may have chosen more right then wrong: ;-)

If the real thing don't do the trick
You better make up something quick
You gonna burn it out to the wick
aren't you, Barracuda?

14. I Was Going Off Of This Year's List...
Natalie's been pretty quiet this year. But the Chicks are definitely welcome.

There are others I didn't mention...just the ones who have had their works abused by Camp Gramps this year.

I can also include endorsements from a large roster of great talents...Neil Young, Will I. Am, John Fogerty, Michael Stipe...a true meeting of musical generations.

Cheers...
