Woodward said Bush really wanted to kill the enemy. He constantly demanded to know why more weren't killed. Bush also was upset that enemy casualty figures weren't announced. Bush said that gave the public the impression that American troops weren't effectively fighting back.

Bush knew things were going badly in Iraq but chose to lie to boost morale and keep the war effort going.
