NBC Removes Olbermann From "Election" Anchor Seat
NBC Removes Olbermann From "Election" Anchor Seat 08 Sep 2008 After months of (GOP) accusations of political bias and simmering animosity between MSNBC and its parent network NBC, the channel decided over the weekend that the NBC News correspondent and MSNBC host David Gregory (?!) would anchor news coverage of the coming debates and election night. Keith Olbermann and Chris Matthews will remain as analysts during the coverage... As Mr. Olbermann raised his voice, his ratings rose as well, and he now reaches more than one million viewers a night, a higher television rating than any other show in the troubled 12-year history of the network. (Maybe NBC fears (actual) journalist Keith Olbermann might dare to call the upcoming "election" a coup in the middle *of* the coup. )

He's terrible. Well, see ya, NBC.

9. I knew he'd catch hell for that one
I don't know how he still has a show after that fantastic "Shut the hell up" segment he did on Countdown.

10. Yup: (See below.)
http://www.nytimes.com/2008/09/08/business/media/08msnbc.html

On the final night of the Republican convention, after MSNBC televised the party’s video "tribute to the victims of 9/11," including graphic footage of the World Trade Center attacks, Mr. Olbermann abruptly took off his journalistic hat.

"I’m sorry, it’s necessary to say this," he began. After saying that the video had exploited the memories of the dead, he directly apologized to viewers who were offended. Then, sounding like a network executive, he said it was "probably not appropriate to be shown."

5. I've already wrote an e-mail to MSNBC explaining that Gregorry's ratings,
now that Rachel has her own show, are going to tank. I would encourage everyone, no matter how much you want to voy into that show, don't. Make them suffer. Make his bloviated head, be shown the fraud that he is.. You know, Republicans are very good at boycotting and sticking with it. DO NOT watch Road to the Whitehouse... Gregory is no better that Joe the Scar.

6. My sister told me Saturday that the media was already closing circles behind McCain.
She watches all the television news, cable and broadcast, and reads the bigger newspapers on line and says that it's McCain this and McCain that.

She says it is just like the media's cheerleading the War in Iraq before the IWR vote and the invasion.

General Electric is setting the ground work for the next 60 days.

The fix is in.

27. NBC yesterday ...
McCain great, Palin before adoring crowds, Biden on TV talking about Palin, Obama wriggling out of a flip comment he allegedly made about abortion. That's all. Now, the weather.

There it all was in one 6:30 p.m. "news" cast.

7. We need a genuine fucking progressive cable news network. Period.
MSNBC has proven that such a thing would be profitable, but they will never fully commit to it, for fear of tarnishing their NBC credentials. We need an unapologetically progressive cable news channel that is willing to speak the truth, not run away from it.

13. I agree and have been saying that for years.
I think if every progressive/liberal in this country would put aside their pet project or cause for one year and buy shares into a progressive news network, then in the long run their causes would see much great benefit.

That's just my two cents.

8. Sounds like the work of a senile drunk has been
Tom Brokejaw is envious of Olbermann and probably pushed hard for this. I think he believes you have to come up through the ranks to earn such a spot and Keith did not pay his dues. Now nobody will cut onto Tom's on air blow jobs of Republican candidates and supporters.

18. Brokaw
This is definitely the work of Brokaw, he who took the phone
call from Welch in 2000 instructing Brokaw to call Florida for
Bush. Not wishing to defend his journalistic integrity (as if
he had any) Brokaw went ahead & did so, like a good
republican soldier.

I thought Ol' Slurmouth was put out to pasture? This is
supposed to be Brian Williams' network now, not the Brokaw
Republican Blowjob Network. At least Williams has a sense of
humor. I can't speak for his nightly news -- does anyone
actually watch those shows anymore?

It seems Brokaw saw Puddinghead's death as an opportunity to
re-insinuate himself into NBC's news division, instead of just
writing maudlin paeans to the generation that makes him seem
like such a little, little man in comparison.

The sooner Brokaw exits stage left the better. If he gets his
way NBC news ratings will start free-falling. I guess nobody
told Brokaw about the Fox news network. They already do his
shtick, only "better."

21. The 2-hour MSNBC progressive block of Countdown/Rachel Maddow starts tomorrow.
The wingnuts sniveled about alleged bias from the election anchors, and MSNBC folded. That's bullshit, but wait until the wingnuts get a load of MSNBC between 5:00 - 7:00 PM M-F starting tomorrow. Heads will explode and I will be laughing and applauding.

Just when I found a network I could actually stomach. Fox of course gets to keep airing whatever Rovian shit they feel like, while passing it off as News to their sub-100 IQ audience. This country is fucking embarrassing.
