Palin's pregnancy a well-kept secret
Source: Star Tribune

Sarah Palin's baby shower included a surprise guest: her own baby. He had arrived in the world a month early, so on a sunny May day, Palin, the governor of Alaska, rocked her newborn as the women around her -- her closest friends, sisters, even her obstetrician -- presented her with a potluck meal, presents and blue-and-white cake.

Most of the guests, along with the rest of Alaska, had learned that Palin was pregnant only a few weeks before. Struggling to accept that her child would be born with Down syndrome and fearful of public criticism of a governor's pregnancy, Palin had concealed the news that she was expecting even from her parents and children until her third trimester.

But as the governor introduced her son that day, according to a friend, Kristan Cole, she said she had come to regard him as a blessing from God. "Who of us in this room has the perfect child?" Palin asked.

Since that day, Trig Paxson Van Palin, still only 143 days old, has had an unexpected effect on his mother's political fortunes. Before her son was born, Palin went to extraordinary lengths to ensure that his arrival would not compromise her work. She hid the pregnancy. She traveled to Texas a month before her due date to give an important speech, delivering it even though she suspected her amniotic fluid was leaking. Three days after giving birth, she returned to work.

1. I swear that woman can't open her mouth without lying.
Here's pictures of that big wingding of a baby shower. You can tell Palin used to work for the press because there were a lot fewer people there than the article lets on.

2. The thing to remember about this person is: It's all about her..
Wait until the right moment to get the maximum shock value and attention.

Don't worry...when the spotlight fades on her in November...look for
her to do something (usually at the expense of a family member) outrageous
to keep her name in the news.

6. She hid it from Mom and Dad...
Because she was "fearful of public criticism"??? So which one did she assume would rat her out?
How often have you personally criticized a woman for being pregnant? How often do your friends and associates do so-I mean if it is not a drug addled, hard drinking celebrity? Or does crazed Sarah ALREADY identify with Brittany and Paris. In my opinion, if that is the case, she overestimates her "hotness"...

8. i hope she and her husband would have the good sense
to at least use protection should they ever get to the White House.

You'd think at 44 years of age she would have done that last time.

9. In People magazine this week
Palin and family were on the cover. Not only did she hide her pregnancy from her parents and kids until her seventh month, it wasn't until one of the girls remarked in the delivery room that the baby looked like he had Downs Syndrome that she told her family about the baby's DS.

Is it me or is that strange?

11. Anyone who flies with their water broken
Is an uncaring or uneducated parent. That is the most dangerous thing I've ever heard of... That wasn't a short flight either. She was risking the child's life and her own. Reckless to say the least. That sort of negligence should be criminal.

14. When I read her track record of returning to work after childbirth
Like going back to work as little as one day after childbirth --

Makes me wonder if she would even afford FMLA to the rest of the moms who aren't in cushy "executive experience" jobs like hers....

because she was kicking around the idea of aborting, once she learned about the DS diagnoses?

16. Now why would someone waving the "pro life" banner keep a pregnancy a secret?
I thought they were very proud of their ability to reproduce like rabbits. And surely there have been other pregnant politicians so going to "extraordinary lengths to ensure that his arrival would not compromise her work" doesn't float either.

I'm leaning towards it being her boyfriend's illegitimate kid or her daughters illegitimate kid. Illegitimacy is the only reason I can see a right-to-lifer hiding a pregnancy.

17. It just doesn't ring true, does it?
The whole story, I think is just so far "out there" that it's either got to be a lie or solid evidence that she's dangerously selfish, reckless and irresponsible. Who in the hell brags about behaving so stupidly?

What kind of "family values" bullshit is it to not prepare your children for the arrival of a new baby - especially a special needs baby? And the flying around while leaking amniotic fluid? Her OB/Gyn advised her to "make her speech"? WTF!?!

Then, after not preparing her family for this MAJOR event in their lives, she delivers prematurely and spends a whole THREE DAYS with them before skipping off back to work.

If it is her kid she'd never make "mother of the year" in my book.
