Curtain Closes on "Rent"
It seems that the broadway show "Rent" closed it curtains recently. Did anyone from DU go to see the show before it closed? I only heard the show was ending it run yesterday. I would have liked to see it before it ended its broadway run. However, it seems the show will do a farewell tour next year and I hope to see at least one of those performances.

2. I'm almost 2000 miles from Broadway
so I had to watch the film, instead.

I loathed the first hour of it, almost to the point of chucking the whole idea and returning it to the store unwatched, but it was like a slow motion train wreck.

It did redeem itself at the end, but barely, and only because I'd been on the front lines in the 80s in a big city hospital.

I think you have to be under 30 to love it.

For the record, I hated "Hair," too, even when I was well under 30, and for many of the same reasons.

4. I love Rent....it is Beautiful....
And I also think Hair is awesome, and Hedwig is awesome...as well

I wish I could of seen all those staged.

Watching the Movie Rent for me is a ordeal....there are so many parallels in my life that it opens so many emotions that I basically struggle to hold it together through the entire second half. Partly from the hope and the love that the characters express.

I am not the only one who feels that way about Rent.

Say what you will...I just want you know that that show is very special to a lot of people. And will always be special.

Having lost friends to AIDS and seeing people struggle and live with HIV, rent is scary and hopeful at the same time and sends the message that love is really all that matters in the end, no matter who you love.

I think that is pretty good message to have.

If the staged performances were poor then I can understand why you didn't enjoy the show.

3. Why?...
I would like to know if it was the performance or production or the show itself?

6. Could have been just a play, not a musical -- would have been better. n/t
