Note to DU: The MSM Is NOT Our Friend; Never Has Been, Never Will Be
What, were some of you disabused of that notion prior to this week? Why? We've seen it since Reagan was in power -
the major media outfits are beholden to the RW. Sure, they throw the LW a few crumbs to feign objectivity, but this
election has been an uphill battle from day one, and it will continue to be an uphill battle until Obama/Biden emerge
victorious.

So, get used to the selective citing of polling data, the non-coverage of major RW problems, the absolute neglect
of issues-based reporting and any semblance of objectivity. Get used to a daily dose of "Dems in trouble, Rs in the
driver's seat" blather. It is ALL designed to dishearten Ds and keep Ds away from the polls in November.

THE MAIN OBJECTIVE OF THE MEDIA BIAS IS TO DEPRESS D VOTER TURNOUT.

What, you didn't know that? You don't think it will work? Look around DU. The Chicken Little talk has already
started in earnest!

1. Much of this is our own fault
The MSM serves the GOP in part because the GOP DEMANDS that it serve them; not just the politicians; the repug voters too. Repugs hammer away at MSM management until management caves. Dems think that sending letters and making phone calls doesn't make a difference, so they don't do it. I have a friend who is a news director for a local station. She has also worked with major news agencies in DC. She says that if the station gets ten or more HARD COPY letters on an issue, the management takes notice. The GOP gets this, but we still haven't caught on. That's why they are the small-but vocal-minority that has become the squeaky wheel that the media heeds.

2. This will be won by the face to face contact we do.
If you are thinking the MSM will do it for you, I have bridge to sell. Call, canvas, converse. That is how we will have to do it.

3. We know that. We were just trying to get a tiny bit of fair coverage.
But thanks to the huge out-pouring of SELF-PITY from the right. We may have lost even that.

except theirselves.

they do whatever they need to do that will benefit them..

i dont really believe the news agencies have a ideaology that they wish to see prevail so much as profits theyd like to make.. and which ever ideaology or party is offering that, well... they will get the benefit
