Have any NYT Subscribers in Swing States found free DVD of Anti-Muslim Movie inside your paper?

Commenter over at Marcy Wheeler's site "Empty Wheel" is saying that they received a free DVD of "Obsession" (anti-Muslim movie) inside their paper. If this is true could it be a that the Repug 527's paid NYT to put this free DVD inside? Maybe the Commenter is just trying to stir up something...but I wouldn't put it past the Repugs to do something like this.

Sorry to be off topic, but I simply must get the word out:

We live in a battleground state. We receive the New York Times daily. This morning, along with our Sunday Times - right in the middle where it was folded double - was a DVD, Obsession. This film was nothing more than bigotry. A scurrilous attack on Islam, the movie equated Hitler and the Nazis with Muslims.

It cannot be accidental that this despicable advertisement for bigotry invaded our home right after the republican convention, where footage of 911 was shown, followed by the dancing of convention goers.

I can only surmise that the republicans are planning next to equate Barack Obama with Muslims - once they have laid the the groundwork for connecting Islam with the Nazis.

I have hit a low point, folks. Even my spouse, the citizen of a European country, described this movie as the �most hateful movie I have ever seen.� I simply have a hard time believing this actually happened to us. We�re not Muslims, but how many Muslim families received a DVD like this one today?

I am in shock!

and maybe it's only in certain areas that are very RW. But, as I said in OP...maybe the EW commenter is just trying to stir up something.

I glanced at authors; there was Daniel Pipes who I know from previous writing as an unreliable "War in the Middle East on the side of Israel" zealot, and discarded it.

to the source. Is it a distributor who is being paid in certain areas of the country to slip this in?

The title is "OBSESSION: Radical Islam's War against the West." It was published by The Clarion Fund, a 501c(3) founded in 2007 http://clarionfund.org/.

The DVD cover points to a website http://www.obsessionthemovie.com/.

"As seen on CNN and Fox News" banner.

Blurb by Michael Medved.

It's a "Paid Advertising Supplement" to roughly 80 newspapers. I'm too lazy to type the full list, but it seems mainly aimed at "the Heartland": Pennsylvania, Ohio, Midwest, and Florida.

9. Thank You! Should Obama's Campaign know about this? What do we do with this info?

Do we just keep this post kicked hoping more DU'ers will report in that they also had this DVD enclosed in their Newspaper? Was it only the NYT that the DVD was inserted in?

What do we do with this info? I'm not wired in anywhere enough to do more research not having gotten the DVD...although I'd better check my garbage, too...because I'm in Swing State NC.

10. BTW...is McClatchy Newpapers on that list? If you have time...

maybe it might be worth seeing if there any newpaper groups that we would recognize. Actually I wish you could "scan it" and post the list if there is some way...

15. Thanks for the link....doesn't seem too many folks here are to interested in this...

but, it's worth a watch to see how many folks got this in their newpaper and if there is a follow up by this group to link Obama to Muslims again. Maybe this DVD was just the teaser for the next onslaught.

Hopefully some Obama Ops here on DU will bring it to the Campaign's attention and maybe work something up to post on KOS where it will get more eyeballs.

It may be legal for this group tied to Council on Foreign Relations to put this out...but it smacks of propaganda and if it's used against Obama at some point then maybe there's something legally that can be done about it.
