My e-mail to wingnut who accused us of "going berserk" over Barracuda

The local radio talkshow wingnut sent me an editorial from The Guardian, saying that we were ruining our chances by over-reacting to Barracuda, the way the Left in Britain messed up by unleasing "hatred" at BLAIR instead of just letting the NeoCons bury themselves. (I deleted the item.) So I replied:




WHO had the "hatred"? What I heard Wednesday night were HUCKLEBERRY hound, GHOULIANI, and Barracuda spewing hatred and sarcasm worthy of LIMBAUGH and his Nazi propaganda models.

Then the very next night we hear Mc5PLANES murmuring sweet nothings about respecting us and reaching out a hand to anybody who will work with him and NOT be mean and nasty. Was he LISTENING to Barracuda the night before? Does he have NO sense of irony (or hypocrisy) in (after Wednesday) standing beamingly next to her and praising her venomous speech?


WHO "cast her as a sex object"? WHY did the Mc5PLANES crew NOT vet her? Not that they wouldn't have picked her anyway, but what kind of preparedness and due diligence is this? Is this how he's going to ruin, uh, RUN, the country?

Why is this person allowed to read a hate-filled speech written by two other Rethug women (their names are available), and BE ABOVE being questioned? Rethugs are fond of saying how "character" is so important, yet, NOTHING STICKS to them. Shrub (and, yes, I HATE him) and his fellow criminals allow NO "fingerpointing" and NO responsibility and NO accountability. He is as despotically petty as any other tinpot.

What kind of character does it show for a woman to ignore her water breaking and continuing on to ride a plane and deliver a speech before going to the hospital, or what hypocrisy is it for her to preach against sex education and sex precautions while her family is exempt, or for her to slash funds for such programs and now demand that her family's CHOICES be THEIR PRIVACY. She wants CHOICE for herself, not for others. These are legitimate questions.

If your purpose was to instigate a flame war, even if it was instigated by the other side, then all you're gonna be left with is proving the wingnut right because they'll just see the insults that you use instead of the facts and truth that you have on your side. This is what Joe Biden said by quoting Harry Truman-- he said that Harry Truman was once told to "Give 'em hell!" and Truman responded, "I'm not going to give them hell. I'm just going to tell the truth and they'll think that they're in hell!"

I think this is a tactic that should be used. Because otherwise, the wingnuts win-- if you beat them down with the facts to the point where they need to fall back to their tired old talking points, even if they can't admit it, you and they will know that you won that fight. When it degenerates into a flame war, no one but the wingnut wins because that's obviously what they wanted. They wanted to get underneath your skin and make you overreact and go into hysterics and thus prove their bias that liberals are crazy bleeding heart socialists who don't know anything. So don't prove them right.
