I was just talking to a neocon outside work while I was having a cigarette
First, she blamed the Mayor and Governor of LA for Katrina, said that FEMA wasn't even supposed to be there for 3 days. I disagreed and figured out quickly her political persuation from those few short words. So I asked her what she thought about Sarah Palin. The woman absolutely loves her, thinks she is going to be great. I brought up some of the things that we know and are documented about Palin, like she was for the bridge to nowhere before she realized that it wasn't going to pass, then she kept the money. She tried to tell me that Palin spent $2m of it for a ferry and she sent the rest back. I said, no, that didn't happen. Of course she didn't believe me. Thinks she is going to do great when she is speaking on her own. I have a headache now from banging my head against a brick wall. Damn, the spin is working. :banghead:

1. You'll never convince someone like that.
It's my fantasy, that once Obama gets in the WH and things DO start turning around, that all these people will kind of start having a thought or two.. 'Hmmm, I guess he wasn't as bad as I feared."

9. If things start turning around
They'll give *bu$h the credit. If things don't turn around, they'll blame Obama....and of course Bill Clinton! :banghead:

11. I'm thinking of moves he might make that are diametrically opposed to what
THEY think will work, and if we see good results...

15. doesn't matter
I know too many pukes that still credit the good years we had with Bill Clinton to Reagan/Bush I. Logic, facts and reason have no place in their world, and no amount of explaining can make it any different.

19. You're right. I don't know why I keep thinking logically. There is no
logic to be found with those people.

23. They're hopeless.
They only listen to what they want to hear. Their whole mindset works to reinforce their own bigoted thinking. Talked to one yesterday and just wanted to scream.

14. That's TWO today alone!
I've always been a fan of DU memes. Screwn. Classic. But today I've seen two that deserve repeating.

If you look at today's Top 10, EarlG has one we should use every time someone posts about McCain/Palin getting a free ride from the MSM:

"As you can see by this chart, 86% of the media ejaculated."

And now you go and add Mooselini. 'Tis a fun day at DU.

4. I talk politics regularly...
...with a pro-war, "we can't leave now" Bush fan.

I asked him, last night, about his opinion of Palin.

"Oh, she's wonderful! She's got 5 kids, she's a governor and she is a pilot and flies her own plane!
She does it all!"

So, the Ebay jet sale that never happened--was translated into "She's a pilot and flies her own plane!"
for this person.

This is what we're up against, people. It ain't pretty.

10. Agreed. The tone was actually very casual
but the banging my head against the brick might have given me away. Palin gave the money back my ass. I'm very glad if she spent $2 million dollars on the ferry, I think that is a good solution. Where is the rest of the money? Wouldn't that have made news at the time? Argh

16. I wasn't necessarily trying to convince her. I just wanted to know what she thought
Sometimes it helps to know what they are saying so you can be prepared. And it is still good to point out lies that are being told, if nothing else than to say she is a liar. I didn't argue any of her points, I could see that it was worthless. Except for the line about she sent the money back.

21. I've done that too...let them drone on about their beliefs. It's interesting
that sometimes other people are around when this is happening. When the wingnut leaves, the others usually comment how ridiculous his/her views are.

No need for headbanging at this point unless you're listening to Slayer's Greatest Hits. There was NO chance of getting through.

but it might finally be time to quit smoking ;). After all, how can you possibly enjoy the smoke break while listening to an idiot like that.

But its time to quit smoking anyway. I don't know if I can do it until after the election though, too much stress.

It's like throwing gold bricks into a void. You never hear them hit bottom.

The spin will work on people like that. We won't get their vote as long as the media is allowed to lie on TV.
