Where has Obama voted against his party or his better interests?
How about the FISA bill just a couple months ago? He took a lot of shit for it...why don't these surrogates say this when asked this question?

1. Because it still pisses us -- his supporters -- off.
I'm guessing that's why, anyway. It would be a good response to that question.

4. Yeah, it pisses us off, but as John Dean
says, it is very sloppily written and I believe a party full of lawyers (Democratic)knows it is sloppily written and easily overturned...they just wanted to get it passed and out of the way, that's why it was written sloppily...Have a little faith...

10. I have faith - and I'm over that vote totally.
I was just agreeing with the OP that it would be a good example how Obama voted for what he thought was best, even though it wasn't popular with many fellow dems.

3. Exactly. The GOP surrogates keep framing this as Obama
hasn't voted against his party and is therefore not the change candidate. BUT, Obama's party hasn't been in charge for the last 8 years, he doesn't HAVE to prove his willingness to vote against Democrats, McCain has to prove he voted against Bush's disastrous policies. I wish the pundits on our side would reframe the issue.

6. Obama was against the Iraq fiasco when most of the Senate
Democrats voted for it. Even though he wasn't a US Senator at the time, that position tells me he thinks for himself and will continue to do so.

11. Obama's "pissing off his party" is a non-issue. We want him becuase we want the
other party OUT. McCain is pretending he is not a republican. The reality is he voted with Bush 95% of the time. He is not a maveriock. he does not piss off his part. He supports the GOP 100%.
It (the idea that McCain is separate from the Bush republicans) is a LIE. a big one. A Rove disciple is running McCain's campaign.

7. It isn't about voting aginst a Party
It is about voting against policies that are wrong for the people - regardless of Party.

For the past 30 years, and exponentially escalating over the past 16 years, the Repuke Party has been wrong about almost every single public policy.

There have been rare exceptions, such as Lugar is right about cleaning up loose nukes and his policies on nonproliferation - it's important for the whole world - so Obama worked with him on this bill.

Other than that - Repukes have been wrong wrong wrong 99.99999% of the time - what's to work with?

13. He took a stand against the Iraq war long before the party did, to the detriment of self interest.
Isn't that enough?

Or,...are you seeking a back-door attack on the better of the two candidates for POTUS?
