Charlie Gibson wants your questions for Palin!
Edited on Mon Sep-08-08 03:00 PM by Changenow
It's a pitiful charade, but some of the questions are hilarious.

No one, not even Charlie, believes this will be a real interview, but maybe he'll at least learn what the problem is.

What did Palin do for four years between the time she was mayor and when she was elected Governor anyway?

Actually I read somewhere she had a net worth in the 10 million range.

WTF did she do to get that much money?

but I was slightly more diplomatic (okay, I didn't use the word "whore"). So far it hasn't shown up so I doubt a more blunt phrasing would work. However, feel free to post it - I didn't copyright the question and I'll be nearly everyone here thought pretty much the same thing.

OMG - I take back what I said - they did post my question which is:

"Do you respect founders of this country and the people of the United States enough to actually answer questions or will you only be doing sham interviews like this one with the corporate owned media?"

18. It's not the questions.
Those are obvious. It's the follow-up questions. He will ask the obvious questions, and, since they are obvious, she will have been prepped with the lies as answers. If Gibson were a real journalist, he would know the answers, the lies, that she will give him. A real journalist would be ready with the follow-up questions that won't allow the republicans to use him as a disinformation source.

That would be if he were a real journalist instead of just playing one on television. Once again rove will vomit his stuff and the pubic will eat it up. Gibson is just the dish he will use to serve it.

28. Here's what I submitted:
Ms. Palin claims to have had a leadership role in the PTA, a community organization. Doesn't that make her a community organizer? Why is Mr. Obama's community organizing leadership experience in a city with almost 300 times the population of Wasilla less qualifying for executive leadership than Ms. Palin's community organizing experience?

I know it's all for show and gives the McCain camp clues into what to prepare Palin for, but there are a lot of good, tough questions on there, and she can't prepare for them all, credibly. Not that Gibson would ask her the hards one, anyway, so what's the point in not participating? At least my question will get a wider readership than it would if I just stuck to DU. :)

30. I just tried to leave the following question and the site didn't take it...........
I would like to know how Sarah Palin can say she is a Christian and follow Christian values when God said "let us make man in our image, in our likeness, and let them rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the livestock, over all the wild animals and over all the creatures that move along the ground." (Gen. 1:26)And Gov. Palin supports aerial killing of wolfs and bears. There are two videos on YouTube from Defenders of Wildlife on this everyone should watch!

I then tried to post it and it said it was "spam"! What the heck is that? I saw loads of other comments on there as heavy as this!

Love, absolutely LOVE the hate-filled posts, by the far-left nuts and the liberals...

They are obivously in full blown PANIC mode, now that Palin has re-energized the Conservative Base, and has apparently started swinging some Independents, towards the McCain ticket.

Now for another possible question: Charlie, please ask Sarah how she feels about having MORE experience at the bottom of the Republican ticket, than Obama has, at the TOP of the Democrat ticket?

Would love to hear the answer to that one!!

40. Here's a great comment:

Dear Mr. Gibson, I would hope that before you and your producer sit down to develop a question list for these interviews, you take a few moments to remember the legacy of Peter Jennings and Edward R. Murrow. You have an opportunity to illuminate the American people about Mrs. Palin's ties to the AIP, her far right wing ideological stands against abortion, science, global warming, protection of endangered species and sex-education. You have a chance to question her record of mismanagement and bullying as Mayor, and her refusal to cooperate with a bipartisan investigation into abuse of power. You can question her on her position on earmarks and why -- if she is so concerned about the taxpayers money -- why she kept the bridge to nowhere money instead of sending back to the federal government. I would hope that your researchers take the time to read some of the old articles in the Alaskan newspapers while you are up there (since few other reporters have thus far) and perhaps take some inspiration. You have an opportunity Mr. Gibson. Don't ask about "sexism" or her family, ask about her record of fiscal responsibility (which is a joke). Ask about cutting taxes on property and increasing sales tax when she was Mayor. Ask if she thinks Alaska should vote on independence from the United States. Ask how exactly her policies would differ from George W. Bush. Ask about the deficit. I've watched ABCNEWS for years, ever since I was a cub reporter. I have pretty low expectations that you will do a hard news interview with a Republican -- particularly since I'm sure the McCain campaign is ONLY granting interviews is reporters show "respect and deference" to their celebrity pitbull. Yet, for a moment, think of your children and grandchildren. Think of your legacy. You have an opportunity to expose the mountain of lies this campaign is built upon and ask, "have you no shame?"

52. He should ask why the press should have to be deferrential to her to get
an interview. If she isn't ready to answer questions to the press and speak on her own while campaigning, what will happen when she has to meet and speak to a foreign leader? Will the Russians and Georgians have to be deferrential to her before she will agree to meet with them? And if she can't go out and do interviews and campaign on her own, what makes her qualified to be Vice President or potentially President of the United States.

A question that won't be asked because that wouldn't be deferrential enough to her by asking it.

57. My Question
Approximately 3,000 people have died from terrorist attacks in the US in the last 7 years. Tragic yes, but consider this. According to the US Centers for Disease Control, more than 400,000 people die prematurely every year from smoking related illneses. That is equivalent to one major US city every year-- dead and gone. Tobacco is a WMD.

In addition, smoking related illnesses costs the US economy over $90 billion dollars annually in lost productivity.

My question is this-- Why are we not waging a war on tobacco?

If Gibson throws nothing but softballs (and I agree that he almost certainly will), at least we can say with justification that progressives provided plenty of real-life inquiries he chose not to make.

70. I can't help thinking that he's going to brutalize her and we're all going to be sitting here
with our jaws dropped.

But, the more likely scenario is that he just kowtows to her like the rest of the MSM (except Olbermann).

61. Here is mine:
Do you feel that the media are unfairly targeting your church and your personal belief system?

If so, do you similarly believe that Barack Obama's church and his personal belief system have been unfairly targeted as well?

Your campaign slogan "Country First" is catchy. Which country were you referring to, Iraq, Israel, Saudi Arabia, China or Georgia? Please clarify this for me.

And every other American woman.

67. How is YOUR economic plan different than President Bush's?
if it's really "change" and she's "ready on day 1 to lead" - this should be an easy question...

Questions for Palin
This week, she'll finally emerge from her protective shell

There's no polite way to say it: Sarah Palin has been hiding out from hard questions. It took 10 days from when John McCain announced his pick until the McCain campaign agreed to schedule Palin an unscripted interview with a serious journalist.

ABC landed the big "get" with Palin. She'll talk to Charlie Gibson of "Good Morning America" later this week.

McCain's camp has handled their vice-presidential pick like some celebrity who will only deign to give an interview if conditions are favorable. McCain campaign manager Rick Davis told Fox News Sunday, Palin would take questions "when we think it's time and when she feels comfortable doing it."

Palin has accused Barack Obama of being a me-first celebrity candidate for president. At least he has been facing media questions for the past 18 months.

Here are some of the questions Palin should be answering, for Alaskans and the rest of the country:

• You present yourself as a Republican maverick who took on your own party's corrupt political establishment. In November's election, your party is running an indicted U.S. Senator, Ted Stevens, who is awaiting trial on charges he accepted more than $250,000 of unreported gifts from the state's most powerful lobbyist. Will you vote for his opponent? Will you urge Alaskans to help you change Washington and vote him out of office? If not, why not?

• Sen. Ted Stevens' trial is still pending; he has declined to say whether he would accept a pardon from President Bush before he leaves office Jan. Do Alaska voters deserve an answer to that question before they cast their vote for or against Stevens in November? What is your position on a president pardoning a public official before a jury has ruled on guilt or innocence?

• Alaska Congressman Don Young appears to have won his Republican primary, even though you endorsed his opponent. Will you vote for your fellow Republican Don Young, who has spent over $1 million on legal fees without telling his constituents what sort of legal trouble he is in?

• Why have you reneged on your earlier pledge to cooperate with the Alaska Legislature's investigation into Troopergate?

• In spring of 2004, the Daily News reported that you cited family considerations in deciding not to try for the U.S. Senate: "How could I be the team mom if I was a U.S. senator?" What was different this time as you decided to run for vice president?

• As governor of Alaska, you have not pushed for laws or regulations that put your personal views on abortion, same-sex marriage and creationism into public policy. As vice president, will you push to outlaw abortion, restrict same-sex marriage and require the teaching of creationism?

• If you were a fully qualified vice-presidential candidate from the get-go, why did you wait more than 10 days to face reporters?

• McCain spokesman Rick Davis told Fox News the media didn't show you enough "deference." How much deference do you expect to get from Vladimir Putin or Hugo Chavez?

• You have said victory is in sight in Iraq. In July 2007, when you visited Kuwait, you said, "I'm not going to judge the surge." In the March 2007 issue of Alaska Business Monthly, you were asked about the surge and quoted saying:

"I've been so focused on state government, I haven't really focused much on the war in Iraq. . . . While I support our president, Condoleezza Rice and the administration, I want to know that we have an exit plan in place."

Define "victory" in Iraq? What is the exit plan?

BOTTOM LINE: The nation deserves to hear Palin's unfiltered answers to serious questions.

The comments are interesting, too. The Palinistas are ferocious.
