Palin Makes Her First Gaffe
Gov. Sarah Palin made her first potentially major gaffe during her time on the national scene while discussing the developments of the perilous housing market this past weekend.

Speaking before voters in Colorado Springs, the Republican vice presidential nominee claimed that lending giants Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac had "gotten too big and too expensive to the taxpayers." The companies, as McClatchy reported, "aren't taxpayer funded but operate as private companies. The takeover may result in a taxpayer bailout during reorganization."

5. hate to burst your bubble.... 2 things
1. back in 2000, when bush was pushing his campaign stump point about privatizing social security he said "What do they (dems) think - it's a government program?"

Gore jumped on it, we all had a chuckle and it went nowhere after that

2. most americans don't know what the hell freddie/fannie do let alone know it's NOT a government institution

6. First Gaffe after her last one.

If by gaffe you mean lie or misunderstanding or simple stupidity about history, current events, or her own record. Almost every statement she makes is a "gaffe". This is just the latest one.

7. and this was a 'scripted' speach and she STILL got it wrong???
Edited on Mon Sep-08-08 03:59 PM by angstlessk
I bet she likes to inprovise, cause she thinks she is so smart..the speach writers just did not give her that 'strong' emphasis she wanted so she added 'and too expensive to the taxpayers' to the delivery...betcha!!!
